Chat Server Upgrades

Hi All,

Last week we moved the chat to state of the art servers located in a great position on the internet. Reliability and speed should have greatly improved.

The servers now are on much higher bandwidth connections and as a result of these we have managed to greatly increase the camera quality so its pin sharp and smooth.

Let me know your thoughts

cams may be pinsharp and smooth, but they heck of a lot smaller not good for those of us without 20/20 vision

eeeeeeeeeeeeeek too clear, can see all my wrinkles now, gona have to get the vaseline over the camera lens lol

We had to lose a minor amount off the cam windows because cameras can only capture images in certain resolutions. By making the video bigger than the camera can capture it was making the picture quality distorted and out of proportion. So indeed, a few millimeters have come the cam size, but the increase in quality is worth it

Good job on the quality and speed but I have to say personally I wish the camera boxes were bigger than they are now (that "X" didn't seem to get any smaller !!).

I stare at a screen all day for work so coming home to see smaller cams isn't ideal. Other sites have much bigger cams but I guess they don't have the volumes to contend with that SH has.

That said now that we have smaller cams are there plans to let us view a second cam now in the space between the cam and the room names ??

Keep up the good work guys ( its miles better than a year ago+)it has to be said.

The image quality of the cams is very impressive, although would be nice to have larger images. However overall it's a vast improvement.

Tiz fabulous - but i am still getting that "you have been disconnected blah blah blah" thing on a daily basis ???? not complaining but just mentioning

When does it happen? Do you have to do anything inparticular to trigger it? Change room, create room, turn cam on etc?

Also, who is your ISP, do you have wireless, and do you use a router?

is it just the cam boxes that has got smaller. since the change i,m finding it a lot harder to read the chat text in rooms as well which isnt very good for us with eye problems . or do i need a new pair of glasses

Just got the message in minxes room on chat 4 about 23.20.

Chat text size has not been modified in anyway, so i'd start looking for some new glasses!

As for the disconnection problems - 90% of the time it is normally your ISP or connection between you, the isp and the chat server. Unless it happens at a specific time (ie when you turn your cam on, send some chat, change room, change server) its virtually impossible to find the cause.

We have plans in the near future to move the chat into THE best location (in terms of internet position) in the UK so hopefully we can stamp out disconnection issues as much as possible.

Running Vista and IE7. Wireless. Speed test at 2161kpbs down 361kbps up. Virgin ADSL (not cable)

Rooms always freeze after a few minutes. Normally less than a full screen of text. Much quicker if a camera is running.

The text will then "spurt" and all the last few minutes text turns up. Seems to stabilise a bit and then it'll freeze for a few minutes. and repeat. Sometimes the freeze will lead to a disconnected.

Tis very irritating.

In the last 24 hrs too many times when the chat room gets halfway thro loading and then stops. I didnt pay my sub to be so frustatingly locked out! Its playing up right now.

Servers dont seem to be going down half as much, but its still irritating that you have to wait 5mins before you can get back in when you aint done now wrong, surely its people that have been booted that should have to wait 5mins not those who have done nothing. and also i made a room the other week and by accident had put a - at the title, the room crashed, i didnt know why, however i was sent a lovely letter when i asked, saying it was cause of this - at start, i wondered if everyone else knew this happens? Cams much clearer but still keep freezing tho, and often i get a screen of chat in one go when it unfreezes. and is there any chance of getting an emoticon drop box on ya chat so you can insert 1 into your chat

I know I have moaned a few times when the chatrooms have been slow or whatever else has been wrong but...I must say they are faster I dont get the server 1 full all the time. Am well pleased at the mo. ty.

Why are ppl complaining about the cam size? if you right click mouse then choose zoom in the cams are larger and better.
