I have recently acquired a mac webcam but it won't load in the chat room, can anyone advise me?

I have all the right quicktime and flash installed etc and I can view other cams! The allow/deny box comes up as usual and my name appears on the list but no cam appears.

Ta ever so!

Is it an Apple one?(probably firewire) or a 3rd party(USB)?

If it's a USB one you probably need drivers from here -> http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/

It's not an isight.. couldn't afford the second mortgage!

I downloaded a driver but will have a look see at this link, just wondered if there was anything in all the preferences about frequency etc in relation to SH. It seems to work on yahoo and on my desktop.

Can't test msn of course, they dont support mac cam.

Firstly check that the web cam has been selected for use in the chat room.

Please see this article in the Help Centre:

http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/help-centre/article.html?id=26

Please note that the reference to 'Right click' has been written for Windows Operating systems. For a Mac, please either press 'Ctrl' and click your mouse button or hold down the mouse button.

If you have no luck or you need any more help, please submit a <a href="http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/support-tickets/new-ticket.html">Support Ticket</a> and we can try other ideas icon_idea.gif

Try this:

http://amsn-project.net/index.php

It's a version of MSN for Macs that supports cam! I've been using it for a while, it's a little buggy, but it works and is free... Should get more reliable in time, too. Better than waiting for MS to sort it out, anyway icon_wink.gif

Another MSN compatible chat program for Macs that allows you to cam with other people on MSN is Mercury.

Download it here:

I have a Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks - works fine in the chatroom! Not the best quality, but not too bad either. It was about £20 on eBay.

Ok....to further complicate this!

I've got a macbook...one of those black ones, with a built in cam. It works with other apps. but not on this site!? Any ideas? The 'right click' option doesn't seem to work.

James.

Right click is for Window operating systems, for Macs, please either hold down the mouse button or press Ctrl and click the mouse button.

New desktop Macs have a right button now - on the latest laptops you can right-click either with the ctrl click thingy or by clicking with a finger on the trackpad.

Or you can buy a two-button mouse! icon_biggrin.gif

I use a Macally IceCam with my PowerBook G4. Works fine on here (although I have to have it plugged in before I launch Safari).
