piss taker,s

ok so im not the greatest speller in the world nor the fastest typer but had the piss took out of me this morning in a room we have been useing for ages.
Then guy whispered as i said ok im going lol mate im only jokeing well after 10mins of some one takeing the piss we do not find it a joke. Anyhow have thought about it and will now keep out of chat for a bit as not here to get the piss took we r here for fun. Been nice chatting to you all in that room and if you want to chat we on msn if not got our msn send us yours and we add you.

This all comes back to perceptions really.

Often in chat people take the piss because somebody has spelt something wrong, is slow on the uptake or even slow to reply.

I am sure that most of the time it is purely people trying to be funny or even trying to make conversation.

I`d also accept that on occasion it is people trying to look big in front of their mates by putting someone else down.

If the latter is the case then it`s a bit sad really.

But as you say that you were in a room that you have been using for ages, it is possible that the person taking the piss just felt it was light hearted banter.

I am on the receiving end of this kind of piss taking all the time and I like to think it`s because people like me despite evidence to the contrary

So I`d just ignore it. If you really think someone is having ago, then report it, as Red advised.

But, as you say, chat is supposed to be fun. Don`t let some saddo spoil it for you

I always get it for my poor spelling at times.........

I just tell them, I am not on the site for my spelling ability............

That normally stops them...............

I have reported the person i found annoying to "redhot" im not normally the sort to get annoyed at a bit friendly banter and do it myself.. but i thought this went beyond a bit of friendly fun the person did not really know me nor i him tho have seen him in room a few times but not really chatted, I tried to ignor this person but when someone making comments for about 10mins about you its hard to ignor them so i replyed best i could and left the room. Anyhow thx for the advice it has been taking onboard

What all the other people have told you in this thread is so true but try not to let the people that take the piss, get to you.
It happens to me all the time because I am the worlds worst typist and probably speller too but I just ignore it, then as you say it becomes an irritation.

But it didn't stop me becoming a chatroom ops so it shows something for the admin/mods/ops on this site that they have no perceptions about a persons spelling ability but look beyond that to see the good in everyone.

The majority of the people on this site are fantastic people and I have made lots of friends from all over the uk and some of them I will never ever meet, but I believe we have a community here and that community sticks up on masse for the good folk,and in time you wil find that out for yourself too.

So report the people who try and spoil it for you and we will take action against them.

Just a thank you guys and know you are all 100% right after sleeping on it over night agree why should we let one person spoil things for us and like you Woohoo we have made lots of friends and hopefully some more along the way you all been great thx a lot.

Get yourself into Bris/Glos/Wilts/Ox room. Other than being in the company of the worlds most pathetic typist(me) we love chat with 'anyone'. As the spelling is sooooo bad at times we have all got honourary degrees in chat interpretaion
