When in chatland and ermmmmmm casually looking through profiles as one does whistling.gif It occurs, not infrequently that we happen upon couples profiles which on further exploration we discover that they are single. Is this reportable, and should we?

It seems to me that a couples tag should mean a couple. Ok I'm not too naive to believe that all are as they should be, but. If the profile is on a couple tag then goes on to state he or she are single, play as a single and the partner/second half of the profile is n/a'd throughout and, with some the ads are from singles looking for.....etc, then surely thats not quite right is it.

The AUP states :- No person is allowed to pass themselves off as a different gender unless it is the case, blah blah blah. But this seems inadequate a guideline.

So, to report or not report?

I've had many guys give me the excuse that they don't want to pay to have their profile changed after they split up with their partner. Some of the time it's true, but some of the time you know they never had one in the first place. But if admin then changed them to a single profile the people who did want to change but didn't want to pay would be within their rights to be a bit miffed. Plus it's a hard thing to prove really, unless they come clean.

Report thumbup.gif

Its not unheard of for admin to speak to both parties of a couple on the phone to make sure they are both genuine.

If in doubt, report it to Dawnie. If you are certain, report it to admin!! icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

Ok what about ..... If someone advertises on the forum for meets etc and lets say for example the age of poster/member advertising for a meet changes dramatically from one ad to the next lets say if one ad says that the poster is 40 say the next saying that the same poster is 34 for example.

following on from that if the ad is saying that the member is wanting a meet for two of them as a couple, some ads saying they are married some saying they are not, example being X's 'husband' is Y in one ad then the next ad weeks later saying X's 'boyfriend' is Y even though the partner is the same one in each ad? remembering the member is a single. Is that ok?

Sorry if this is confusing and sounding a bit 'up the arse' but i'd just like to know, it is relevant. It may just be that someone somewhere may just get the hint that its time to be sensible.

But is it such an issue? Is it the role of a member to snitch on another member, or is it the role of admin etc to "police" the profiles. It doesn't bother me that someone would want to embelish their profile with a white lie about age or if someone who was once a couple and is now single doesn't want to fork out to change their profile or vice versa it is none of my business.
It I was deceived by a member then I would simply ignore them in future.

I thought that full members can change profile from a couple to single for free (know someone who did it)......but have to pay to revert back to a couple?

I personally think that some members who have a couples profile and now single, continue with the couples profile believing that they will get more meets (and more people chat to them in chatland)as a couple rather than a single. I have talked to males and females who do this. Find it annoying to be honest as its these singles under the preetence of a couple that tend to pester me more in chat (my experience only)

So if they are going to decieve on something like that why should I believe anything else they say??

If the member cares about this site and I believe the majority look upon it as a community then I think they would.

So Yes I think they would snitch same as they would snitch on some one doing something wrong in their real life community.

I wouldn't call it snitching tho I would call it being a caring member of society.

Fair point I can see where your coming from It's not something that I would feel good in doing Dave Just making sure I'm clear about the rules n stuff really, though because I know a lot of people who may want to take an interest in what this member professes to offer when in fact its a complete load of bullshit.

I don't really care about the member advertising but I do about the members being duped by it. They are/might be mates or future mates. Last thing I want to see is people becoming disheartened. It aint easy sometimes, crappola makes it even less so.

It's an issue if you believe honesty is important. If you don't, then it's not.

I do happen to believe that honesty is important, and I also care about the site. I wouldn't have been here for several years if I didn't. Is it such an issue that I should feel oblidged morally or otherwise to apply my standards to complete strangers, I happen to think not. I prefer to spend my time on here having fun and a light hearted laugh, rather than pedantically pick holes in profiles.

Lost I'm not implying that, that is what you meant, I'm just trying to explain my point of view.

I was under the impression that profiles and adverts are vetted before becoming "public" and that the custodians of the site apply the rules where and when necessary, and I'm sure that they do.

I don't see it as applying my standards, just the site standards. It would be terribly sad to trawl profiles looking for something to report but if I happen across anyone with a misleading profile I'll ask them to see if I've misunderstood. Those who are intending to deceive other members usually get defensive or abusive; those I'd report. Where it's someone whose circumstances have changed I suggest they speak to a friendly Op to get things sorted.

There are lots of really nice, genuine people on here but there are also some of the not so nice, not at all genuine variety unfortunately.

OK, so here's a question if someone is behaving irresponsibly as the host of a room (for example kicking people without good reason) should they be reported to chatroom ops / Admin or should we just get on with it and ignore them?

I would normally opt for the get on and ignore 'em attitude but this of course doesn't help make the site a better experience for others?

Yeah !! this is important !!

All sorts of stuff can be overlooked on a regular basis. But when you decide to host a room you should know the rules and stick by them !!

If you ever come across a room host breaking the rules .......

Report Em !! as soon as ya can ...
