As a fairly new couple to the site we would like peoples advice as to chatroom ettiquette and the best way to ease ourselves into building up a circle of likeminded people to chat to sometimes,as it seems that this is a popular way for people to get to know each other and then maybe lead to possible meets.
What is whispering? directing ? and other terminology
that we are unfamiliar with.
Any advice would be appreciated.

The chat rooms are a great way to get to know people icon_biggrin.gif Just pick your local room, or a room whose title interests you and say 'Hi room, we're new so be gentle icon_biggrin.gif ' and I'm sure people will welcome you.

Whispering is when you highlight a chatters name in the chat list and type a message. This means only that person sees your message, not the whole room. You should always ask in the room if it's ok with the person before whispering, as apart from being against the site rules, whispering without asking is very rude.

Directing refers to asking someone on cam to do something or move the cam to show a different angle. All rooms that don't have 'No Directing' in the title allow directing. However, just because you're on cam in a room that allows directing doesn't mean you have to take any notice. If you decide to cam it's entirely up to you what you do or show.

We're mostly a friendly bunch and the room regulars and chatroom op's (they have a star as an icon) will help you settle in and answer any questions you might have.

Happy chatting icon_biggrin.gif

If you have any problems then I'm sure most of the more mature members, like Sara there, will help you out icon_lol.gif

Or if you see a gold star in the room it is a chatroom ops whose job it is, to help as much as possible and keep order.

Mostly stick to good manners and humour and take everything you see and hear with a pinch of salt and you won't go far wrong.
