Here's a little maths trick which I was sent which is rather clever...It does require a calculator though...

1. Key in the first three digits of your home phone number (NOT the area code)

2 Multiply that number by 8

3. Add 1 to the total

4. Multiply the total by 250

5. Add to the total the last 3 digits of your phone number

6. Add the last 3 digits of your phone number to the total again.

7. Subtract 250 from the total

8. Finally Divide number by 2

Do you recognize the answer?

Just don't post the "answers" on here or you may end up with more than you bargained for...

Only works on 6 digit phone numbers not on 7 digit numbers such as Birmingham/Manchester or 8 digits (London).

Oh how sad, I actually tested it in Excel

I dont get it. I've tried it 25000..ish times and end up with something i dont recognise.

Mine has a zero in, it worked when I did 0.?? although I got 2 extra 0's
