Hiya.
Many congratulations on the big improvements to the chatroom part of the site, for the most part, the new changes seem to be going down really well.
However, having been in chat tonight (like I am most nights), we've discovered that the text colour options and the emoticons have been condensed into a smaller amount on both.
Can someone shed some light on why this is so? Is it new software that doesn't support more colour options etc?
I know there's a few of us, traditionalists as we are, that have our own unique colours that we use and particular emoticons. So we're a little 'miffed' that they've disappeared. I'm sure we'll get responses of 'get a life' and 'get used to the changes', but we were wondering if they could in any way be reinstated?

First thing that was said to me tonight when I visited a regular room was ...
"Hey flower, they`ve nicked your colour"

Yes sara - agree completely. I logged on this evening to find that I had to choose a colour that didn't suit my personality! I also didn't feel as free to chat whilst adding emoticons that expressed what I was saying to an adequate degree. Why have the colours gone? It makes no sense!!! The other functionalities have increased the customer service whilst reducing other seemingly 'less important' aspects. Nooooooooooo they are not - they are just as crucial so SH bring them back pleeeeeeeeeeeeease :cry :cry :cry - seeeeee I can't even cry anymore!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for this, if there is no technical reason for this I dont see any problem with the old colours being put back in tommorow. But we do need to make sure its not a scheme we have to use because of the new emotes upgrade or something.
If there are any specific emotes you want in please let me know we have room to add a few more in
We will be re sizing some of the bigger emotes as well.

Ahhh that's great news, I know alot of people who will be happier bunnies if that's possible - thank you.
Yes, we definitely need the :cry back, and if we can have an angel, that would be pretty cool too.

Chat font colour question

Martin - can't you just reinstate the old ones that were there before? They are listed in the sticky that Sarge posted:

If you're short of space, please remove the ones people don't use much like the US flag, the blue circle with the arrow, the dollar sign, the yin-yang and the revolving earth.
If you need to redo them, we already have a comprehensive list that are available when creating forum posts. There are also plenty available in the public domain.
With regard to the colour picker, the previous one looked like a standard "out of the box" widget whereas the new one appears to have been hand-developed. If you can't put the old one back, please increase the number of colours and take out the ones that are less usable (like light pink and yellow).

Afraid not the software that ran them has been updated as it was over 4 years old. The old ones dont work with the new software at all (as you can see). We might be able to re draw a few of the old ones and replace a few of the new ones.

We are taking a few of the crap emoticons out and putting the popular requests back in after re drawing them, also adding more text colours and several shades of each as we cant use the old text editor with the new software.

Text colours are now a range of 20 shades of nice colours 
As for emoticons, the basics are there at the moment, the missing ones such as :cry etc are back.
We've stripped out the useless ones, ready to make way for some more relevant ones, which will be worked out and put in next week.
I think a good way to kick this off would be people put their top 5 choice of smilies in this thread, we will then see what, if any can be put in.
