Interested in being a Chatroom Operator?
We welcome applications from members to become Chatroom Operators (Ops). Please read this information first, and if you are interested send an application to Admin, myself, Ian, Dawnie or
Meeko
Why become an Op?
Ops are unpaid volunteers who help with the smooth running of the site. We are here to help members with queries about site usage (related specifically to the Chatroom) and to monitor chat to deal with any problems. Because we are volunteers we cannot guarantee to be available at all times of the day & night and therefore an increased presence will help to share the workload and provide an improved level of service to our membership.
What is involved in being an Op?
An understanding of how the chatroom works is a basic requirement. You need to have good communication skills, patience, a willingness to help members and an ability to take an objective view. It is challenging and can be pressurised at times. You will ultimately be responsible for taking appropriate action to resolve issues that occur in the chatroom from time to time. Ops follow guidelines to ensure members act within the rules and the law.
What skills and experience are required?
If you have worked on another chatroom or website, so much the better. However, this does not necessarily guarantee you an Op position. You need to be tolerant, patient, prepared to spend time in educating members, and to work in rooms across the site (whether or not the room content is of personal interest). You don’t necessarily have to be a keyboard wizard or IT guru!
How does the application process work?
To apply, please send a pm to myself, Ian, Dawnie or Meeko covering the following points:
•How long you have been on the site and how often you use the chatroom
•Any experience you’ve had in a similar role (including Op/Mod status on other swinging sites)
•A description of your skills relevant to chatroom usage
•A list of rooms you regularly use in chat
•A summary of why you want to be an Op and what qualities you think you could bring to the team
Your application will then be considered and we will advise you of the outcome. Note that if you have not been an active member for at least 12 months and/or do not use the chatroom regularly, you would be unlikely to be accepted at this stage.
Couples Accounts (May 2011)
We review each application from an individual in isolation. If you have a couples account and wish to apply, please confirm which half of the couple is applying. We are happy to take applications from both halves of a couple, but would not usually consider trial periods for them both at the same time.
