Hello all,

i generally use the LMU forum for a good laugh at some of the first posts, and the dogging forum to chat to people i know wave.gif , and occasionally the cafe to see if any of the old good bunch are around.

admittedly i am a lurker mainly, but notch up a few good threads and replies on occassion!!
i have given the new look site a bit of stick lately but am now thinking that it may not be so bad!
Now that some of the more regular people from SH past have left the site it is not as hard for newbies to post threads without the onslaught of hijacks and complete piss taking that has occured since we came here first.
A lot of people DO deserve hijacking and newbie bashing at times but i think some of the cliques that were around doing this have cleared up. i have been on occassion know to tear a thread to bits if it is completely ridiculous myself but i felt some of the regs in the past used to do this as a hobby.

I hope SH becomes more than the sex site that a lot of people are using it as now, and that some of the users of old who were great people and cared about the site, either come back or stay, but we will have to see!!

Anyway can some one help me out? how do i update our SH add now? i cant find the update add bit to refresh its place amongst the millions of people that now are members 344 000, is this true? surely not?

anyway answers on a reply post shaped envelope please icon_biggrin.gif

Hi Guys

over 30 views of your post & no one offered you help!!! icon_eek.gif

shame on you peepers (unless you didn't know how to help i guess)

All you need to do is to click on the My advert (on right of page) then edit, then at the bottom of your ad should be an option to save icon_wink.gif

That shoots your ad to the top of the latest ads list.........but we have done that many times & watched it disappear off the page in less than a min icon_eek.gif icon_eek.gif

Pre re-vamp you were only able to bump your ad every 4 hours.....which meant it was there long enough for peeps to see it!

We have def noticed a drop in interest & are sure it's because the ad is not there long enough icon_mad.gif

Hope my instructions make sense & Good Luck

G & D x x

Srne:

i read over what you have written and found it interesting....however on some of the points i disagree with you.....
the place isn't the same as it was (no i am not whinging) and with the changes it has changed the character of the site..... for example is the chatroom better for the changes???

as for the forums, i don't think it has necessarily become easier for newbies to post... it is just as if a new community has had to be built because the old community moved on... sad, but true, what drew you to post back when you were new.... that same old community, you know... the one with the cliques...... i think it felt that way to newbies because a lot of people actually have met each other, whether it is parties or socials or munches (of which i do fear for the future of....but that is a different subject entirely!) like the one that i extended an invite to when you were new......

the whole ethios of the site has changed.. and to be honest this was the first place i use to look when i came in from work... or if i had a day off.... that isn't the case anymore because the ethios of the site has changed, i pop in and out and help and advice wherever i can, but for me it isn't the same fun place it was (again not a whinge, just the way i feel)

thanks for the help on the add thing daverover appreciated!!

the point i was trying to make wasnt the cliques, these will be prevelant in any social circle be it swinging or other, i was commenting that it was hard for some newbies to get a foot in the door without it being slammed in their faces at times.

we all made mistakes when we were new here, be it lame posts ( me and rach were and frequently still are guilty), or misguided representations of what the site was REALLY about in the days gone by. I wasnt having a cheap dig fabio, just saying that sometimes people forgot that newbies need a little help and constructive criticism at times rather than an annihillation of there slightly misguided threads.

hope this has put into more light what i meant by the origional thread!! icon_redface.gif

i must say that the original post in this tread seems to make alot of sense to me! i stopped posting as much as i would like as alot of the things i was saying were being ridiculed, or had sarcastic comments left! and it was always the same people who were doing this and it wasn't just to me, i noticed that there were points left for other people mocking what they had said! if the site has changed and these people who used sarcasm to mock people who were posting have now left then i say good, it's a change for the better! once people get sick of things around here and realise that you cannot just turn up, place an ad and get a shag they will soon vanish! and again the site will be better for this. I agree that some of the comments made in a mocking/sarcastic tone were deserving of the comments made, but would it not be better just to ignore stupid "i want a shag" comments rather than starting a thread detailing how much of a wanker the original post was.
anyway i will leave it at that, just felt that some very valid points have been raised in this thread.
cheers
rant over

I think some of your points are fair. Just before the site changed hands, there was an increase in the newbie bashing etc, and I have to say, it was often unfair. There were some as has been said, who deserved to be shot down in flames, others were just not given a chance.

As for the drop in interest in adverts. I have to say the, the search button was your friend, but no longer icon_sad.gif

I have neither the time, nor the inclination, to trawl through loads of adverts, until I find one in my area icon_cry.gif If the search button came back, then it would be most useful.

I have also just noticed, an advert advertising viagra on here. If the site gets spamed by these sorts of adverts, then it would be even more to trawl through icon_evil.gif

So for me the adverts, are now a waste of time
