Does anyone know of a cleaner to use on lappy screens and the such like that won't damage the screen, obviously, and with out leaving streaky marks?

try a good spectacle cleaning cloth or go to jessops and get a lens cloth.

Give Dewi's safe mode metod a whirl first, you don't have to cock about finding CD's or fiddling with your Bios icon_wink.gif

Mt ISP has changed its supplied anti-virus/security software for a cheaper version, and as a consequence I've been infected. (well, the Lappy has)
to such an extent that the anti-v etc could not scan and clean, and consequently, it appears that the lappy's Security Centre has kicked in and now simply refuses to allow me to get the machine working beyond a start-up screen.
(I'm not even sure of the validity of this, and the 'security centre' is asking me for cash to progress!?!)

so, is there a way for me to override this start up thingie and get the machine cleaned?

You may have surmised that Im using another machine to type this.

If it was me I would whip the hard drive out and using a cable would scan it for nasties using another lappie or pc. This is way to try and save any photos or files on it to, before you recover it using the disc that should've come it. Or the one you made when the machine was new (differant manufacturers use diff methods). Hope you get sorted.....

well i gather you domt have a paid account if you did you can gain access to your account that way

if you have a free account you still can get the account back but you need alot of information to do so

1, the original registered infomation you first opened the accoint with
2, the old to new passwords that you have used over the years
3, the ip adress that you use all the time dont get this wrong thoe it dosnt help you if you have a changeing ip adress everytime you connect to internet like aol

also they may reset your account so no emails are left in the account when you regain the account back also after 6 months of non usage you can gain access back again from hotmail

Not strictly computer technical... more just me being soft.

Aaaanyway, if I have a playlist in iTunes can I burn it to CD?

Or do I have to put it all in windows media player and do it that way?

yes, you can burn from iTunes.

i believe you can open the playlist, and at the bottom of the window somewhere should be a 'burn' button!

I'd check on mine, though I've lost the lot.
Needless to say, I'm happy to have the OrbitGenerator back online.

hello all!
and thanks for the advice

somewhere around that window, there may also be a way to burn as mp3 or audio/cd type quality stuff... just to add a little frisson (sp dunno.gif ) of confusion again

so why use itunes for your ipod there is other programs that you can use that is much easier to use with your ipod especially if you lose your operating system on your main computer that you transfer files from as the itunes to your ipod on a new install wants to format your ipod completely wipeing the music off even if you have paid for them

if you used another program you can get all the music off of it and then format it putting the tunes back on
