Grrrrr. Anyone who can tell me why my DECT phones are buggering about- no ringtone, just a "noise" will be worshipped.

I've checked the ADSL filters, to no avail.

Hi icon_smile.gif...
If this was my prob I would remove everything and experiment icon_smile.gif .....all filters and phones the lot....then try a phone in every point (not the dect one -an ordinary that you know works icon_smile.gif ) without filters to confirm your phone points are ok....then add all your filters and go round and repeat....to verify filters all workin.....this will be some really silly fault when you discover it.....there seem to be issues with bt homehub doin this but thats down to bt....and you need to see them if you are havin probs with that....
Feel free to chip in anyone if you have a better idea than me icon_smile.gif....

Cheers Gary xxx

Having a prob with dropping connection every time the phone rings ,have put all new filters on and have it going from the phone line to PC any ideas please

Hi icon_smile.gif ..
Was this workin originally? Have you changed anything recently or started using a phone extension or something? You need to remove everything and just plug one filter and the pc in...and try to narrow down the prob....if you are sure all your kit is workin then maybe the fault is at the exchange and could be your isps responsability....very hard to fix via this forum and not hands on so to speak....Hope you sort it soon...

I found out why it was running so slowly, my lodger was down loading Gavin and Stacey, he'd left his pc running while he was at work icon_rolleyes.gif

But I've washed my drive and recovered a large amount of space and now it's running beautifully.

Fab thread, thanks for everyones help, especially Gary.

Cheers Gary- I managed to rectify it last night with a trial and error approach, but it's an intermittent problem (dont you just love 'em) And even a standard phone, with everything else unplugged, woouldn't work at one point.

Will just cross fingers that it doesn't happen again thumbup.gif

And if it does, hit them with a hammer smug.gif

Hi again icon_smile.gif...
Just humour me and try lookin at the same sites thru firefox, this will prove whether it is an IE prob or not......If it is an IE prob try this that I have just pinched from another site.....

Open up IE, and next to it open up a folder (start from "My Computer" or "My Documents") with images. Let's stick to .jpg images to keep it simple. Click and drag an image from the folder and drop it on IE. This should cause IE to display the image.

It should look like it does in PS. If it does not, then there must be some setting in IE that is wrong.

If the image looks fine in IE with this method, then the problem is with images on the web. This can be caused by some Internet Service Providers who put a "proxy server" in between you and the web, and this proxy actually recompresses images before passing them down to your computer. They call this "web acceleration" because they reduce the amount of data by drastically compressing images. This is OK for general web browsing if you have a very slow connection. But for photographers like us it sucks.

Hope this helps Gary xxx

Hi icon_smile.gif....
Can be a few reasons for this....
I need to know how you connect to the net eg.wireless router etc....or wired....or adsl....or cable..... icon_smile.gif

Wireless networks can be the most problematic....for instance my laptop worked great with my router for 2 years or so....we introduced a new laptop to the router and my old laptop wouldn't connect....turned out the wireless card in my old laptop needed the latest version of their software to work and has never failed since....
Both work great now....

Not sure if you can help, but would be v. grateful if you can icon_biggrin.gif

All has been working fine, Googling my head off for years I have been with no problem. Then got up one morning and Google decided (or daughter has pressed some unknown button icon_mad.gif ) and I get 'sponsored links' down the left hand side when I do a search, like this...

I never got it on the left hand side, it's always the right hand side - now it's both sides icon_mad.gif

Not only on Google, but Ebay has decided to do it as well, so have to scroll across when I want to look at things icon_mad.gif

Amazon is another site it comes up on - how do I get rid of all this tosh on the left hand side. Peed off with only having half a screen and having to scroll across for the rest icon_evil.gif It doesn't do it on the laptop, just this puter icon_evil.gif

Hi icon_smile.gif ..

Quick question missy...what screen res are you runnin as you should not need to scroll left and right....if you have a 17" screen you should be on 1024*768...normally....this would stop the need to scroll left and right or it should....
Sadly sponsored links are the norm now on google....they come up on the right hand side normally tho....
I see you use Internet explorer.....I do keep harping on about Firefox on this thread but it is far better icon_smile.gif
Also if you do use Firefox there are several free extensions you can get for it (well there's loads actually) and if you are determined to bomb the adds you can get one called "adblock"...am goin to try this on mine tomorrow icon_smile.gif no time now am cooking dinner icon_smile.gif...

Cheers Gary xxx
