Try this cos it sounds like a problem with your router settings.

Quote:

Error: 80072745
If you are encountering the error code 80072745 when you sign into Messenger try the following:

1. If you are connected to the Internet through a router, remove the connection to the router. Then, directly attach the network or modem cable to the computer. This will help determine whether the issue is related to a firewall setting on the router. Try to sign in to Messenger after you connect to the Internet. If you can connect to Messenger after bypassing your router, the issue may be related to router settings. Try resetting your router (Note: This may revert your settings back to factory default settings and may delete all your custom settings.). Please contact your router manufacturer's Help documentation or customer support channels to determine how to reset your router or enable port 1863 through the router firewall.

2. If you are signing in from a corporate environment, contact the network administrator to determine whether port 1863 is being blocked inside the network.

3. If you have Zone Alarm with IM Security installed on the computer, turn off IM Security for Messenger:
3.a. Right-click the Zone Alarm icon in the notification area, and then open the Control Center.
3.b. Click IM Security or click Security to open the IM Security settings window.
3.c. Click the Main tab or the Status tab.
3.d. Slide the Protection Level slider to Off to turn off IM Security.
Note: This procedure will change the IM Security settings for any instant messaging programs that are installed on the computer.
3.e. Sign in to Messenger again to determine whether the issue is resolved.

4. If you are connecting to the Internet using a Wireless Data card through a mobile phone network, please contact your mobile internet provider to verify if you need to additional data plans that enable you to connect to the Messenger service.

Ahh, the very thing.

anyone recomend a half decent ftp / website builder?

you thought that was easy didnt ya lol

needs to be free / easy to use & drag n drop would be really cool coz i just can't be arsed with html any more,

the site i want to put up really doesn't warant the effort of dreary hours of html editing, or spending loadsa money on software or hosting.

My isp offers 20gb of free webspace, unfortunately the crafty buggers neglect to tell ya what your http / www. address is lol, love it, crafty buggers icon_surprised.gif)

Its been sooo long sinse i had any interest in web building that i've probably forgotten everything i ever knew lol.

Thanks guys xx

Pete

Gary.... I have an msn problem..... could you advise?

I am using MSN Live and have changed the main log in email adress. I now seem to be stuck in some kind of half way house limbo!

All my contacts etc are still there.... but they all appear to be off line. I appear off line to everyone too. If i ask them to use my new email address and add me as a contact then I appear to them ok.

It did say on the MSN site that contacts etc would be updated in 48 hours, so initially I was not too concerned, however it is now a week... and it hasn't resolved itself.... any ideas?

Erm... some help please techy people...

I recently upgraded my Vista to Windows 7. ALmost everything works, but when I go to type either here, or on Wordpress, when the cursor scrolls off the bottom of the visible page, it keeps flicking up and down and I can't read what I type as the text in the box keeps reverting to what is on the front page.

Do I need to install something? As at the moment it is driving me potty.

Cheers!

Might not be much help, but have you been out to the Windows Update site and downloaded up to date patches yet?

I'm afraid my past experiences make me wait at least 3 years before adopting any new MS products.... that's usually enough time for them to get the main bugs ironed out. icon_sad.gif

Before you do anything I suggest you plug a usb keybaord in and try that......if this works then chances are you need a new keyboard.....have changed a few of these for people....new ones are normally around the 25 quid mark.....

In what programs, or is it all of them?

There's a setting in Firefox (F7 IIRC) that can cause them to stop working and I think there may be something similar in IE, but I don't use it so I can't really comment.

If it's all programs it could be a duff keyboard.

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me with this - I have lost the ability to paste a copied word or phrase from one webpage to another's search box using my right mouse button.

I can highlight a word with the left button, then use the right button to select "copy" - but when I go onto another page, and right click, nothing happens.

Interestingly, I can use ctr+V, and that will paste the item into the new page.

This seems to have started when I right-clicked an image which must have been secuity-protected, I got a message that said "Right-mouse button disabled" - or words to that effect - is it possible that this has affected my mouse?

I'm using Firefox, I've done a system restore to a point when the mouse was working correctly but it still won't work.

Any suggestions gratefully received icon_smile.gif

You can play with the mouse button settings in the Control Panel. Look for it on your Start menu. Go into Control Panel and find 'Hardware and Sound' or 'Mouse' if you are in pre-XP Windows. You may be able to switch the right mouse button back on from there.

Ah thanks Foxy, I've already been in the mouse control settings, and I can't see any specifically for the right mouse button. I'm using Vista.
