Mine was opening a new window untill this morn... it opened on the chatroom... so in order to get bk to chat i had to close it all down and start again.

I've never had this trouble b4. Always been able to use the normal link to open chat until last week when there was probs on the site. Is this gonna be the case all the time now... or will i be able to access it the normal way again soon?

The problem we have at our end is reproducing this issue, we know its happening as a number of people have been affected, so far as site changes go the bits of code that relate to how these windows open up hasn't changed, we have been over old versions of the site as well and the codes all the same, so it may be that there's another factor, maybe an ISP, maybe a setting in a browser or a browser change in the way that java script is handled, for those that do have this issue and come across ways to fix it, please post as any info is useful in finding out why this is happening.

hi guys, Also had a problem when in chat and trying to view profiles. Profiles did not open in a new window, but over the chat room, so had to keep logging out and back in. I downloaded the latest version of flash www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about and this seemed to work. Not sure if this will help with other problems, but maybe worth a try.

In both Firefox and IE there's options that could cause this to happen, would you check that within your options that you aren't forcing links to open up in the current window;

In Firefox
Tools > Options
Click on Tabs Icon
Make sure that the 'Open links from other applications in'
a new window is checked
and that the 'Force links that open new windows to open in'
is not checked

In IE

Tools > Internet Options
Tabs > Settings
Try unchecking 'Enable tabbed browsing'
restart IE and see if it still happens.

None of those changes should have had any impact on font size or have messed your pc up, with any issue its only knowing facts that helps to sort it out, its a shame that we haven't had more replies saying wether or not the changes fixed the problem, but I guess thats life, some people will only post when they have an issue icon_sad.gif

Well it did. I unticked the box and did a reboot. when it came bk on.. all the writing on the pc and the icons on my desktop were double the size. I didn't know what to do so i reticked it and rebooted again. It didn't change them back so i had to go in chat, which was hard as all the pages no longer fitted my screen, as i could only see half of them and find a nice man who helped me get it all back to normal.

I've also found that when im the forum i can only use the emoticons on the left. I cannot "veiw more emoticons". All this has happened since not being able to get in with the normal link to the chatrooms, i have to use the other that is under the normal box, or the one that you'se made up for us a cpl of weeks back.

The easiest way to change the size of your fonts is to right click your desktop, choose the "Appearance" tab and right down at the bottom there is a drop down list for font sizes. You can choose Normal, Large or Extra Large. Additionally if you click on the "Advanced" button from that same dialogue you have the option to change the font sizes for specific bits of display items e.g. menus. Just click on various bits of the picture to get the item you need or just use the drop down list.

There is a more complicated way of changing font sizes which is to change the DPI of the fonts. This is achieved via the same Display Properties dialogue. Go to the "Settings" tab, then click on the "advanced" button. The first tab of the dialogue that comes up is "general". Halfway down there is a drop down list for selecting a change of DPI. The normal size should be 96 dpi.

As regards the missing additional fonts window. There could be two reasons for that. Either you have a pop-up blocker working (either the one in Internet Explorer or a 3rd party one eg Norton Internet Security or similar. Or the other one is that the pop up window is opening behind the main window instead of in front of it.

I am getting this almost everyday now!!!!!!

Apart from today where i have got it twice in the last 15 minutes. I did all the things i was told to do last time and it didn't work for me, instead it messed all my pc settings up and took me ages to get bk to normal.
Since starting to use that other link you gave us to get into chat and getting this problem, i can no longer open the 'View more emoticons' page either. I have posted about this on may occasions but just seem to get ignored.
I didn't have any of these probs in the 3 n half yrs before this thread was 1st opened. It seems the day we couldn't get in chat and a new link was made..back in may... was the start of it all.

Its not a site problem, its most likely a browser setting issue.

I am once again hitting the same prob with the profiles openng over the chatroom and not in a sep window.
I have checked my settings and they are set to..
'always open in a new window'.

I took the advice last time and did what i was told following all the steps. It didn't work.

Can somebody please tell me what i'm suppost to do now if its a browser issue?

Hi,

If you're using IE7.

Tools > Internet Options > Settings button (under the tabs header).

Click on 'Restore Defaults'

Click OK, and OK again.

Close internet explorer FULLY (if you have multiple istances open), infact to be safe restart your computer.

If it still opens up in the same tab after that, its most likely other software thats causing it.

Thanks,

Elliot.
