Walking, with my lovely partner, up in Doveldale in the Derbyshire Peak. (Although we passed a sign saying we were in Staffordshire which was confusing.)

About 15 mins walk in, there is a set of stepping stones over the Dove - we had to cross as there is only one path further up the river. 3 of the stones were under fast flowing water and I had to gird my loins good and proper to make it over. The walk up the dale is gorgeous - and so long as you can ignore the whining children (Muuuum, I'm tiiiiiiired. Muuuuum, can we stop pleeeeeese) it's a good challenge to us non-hikers and provides the reward of a series of glorious vistas all the way through.

If you haven't been - go. There is even a camp-site within a couple of miles so a handy stopping off point on the way north or south on a longer trip.

The lovely cards and certificates my 2 youngest kids made me for Mother's Day. Especially after finding out that Jade had died this morning. I feel very lucky and blessed to have my health and a wonderful family (even if they do drive me to distraction regularly).

Waking up to cards, choccies, flowers and a teddy- even our 3 teenagers made an effort. Well, obviously theres a ban on selling stamps near eldest's uni icon_lol.gif but we'll be seeing her next weekend bounce.gif so she's "doing" mothers day then.

Not one, but three hand made cards from my youngest- containing promises that "Because you do everything, I'm doing everything today" I'm gonna have some fun with this icon_twisted.gif

Theres a plus side for them though- I've lost my voice! icon_lol.gif

flowers, chocolates and wine from my boy and him proudly telling me that he got my card two weeks ago. baring in mind that as a general rule he had thought before (like many males) that shoping for your mum meant that shops were only open the day before the event! lol

he even made me breakfast in bed without burning the house down. i just knew sending him to scouts would have a plus side. well done that boy!!
