As well as lots of odd business ventures he famously had a kitchenware factory - enamel I think. He died completely penniless - spending his entire fortune on saving human beings, often by paying huge bribes.
Lift-maker or not, he "... walked through the bloody mud of the holocaust without soiling his soul ..." and the fact that over 6000 people are alive today because of the great-hearted Oskar Schindler makes me smile today!
