The original idea of socials and munches, was for people to meet in a neutral/vanilla enviroment usually a pub to get to know other swingers with no pressure to play, and yes someone was making money, the landlord...
Indeed... but if you were too new, then you could not get on the list, and often the music would be so loud that unless you could sign, you didnt stand a chance of getting to know anybody

but its now being twisted as Fabio says...every other week, its someone's birthday and they happen to be holding a social at a swingers club for every tom, dick and harry, which seems like a veiled attempt to just get people into their venues.
I have been to around a dozen "socials" that have been advertised on this site and held at Chams in Darlaston.
The vast majority of them have been held on nights when the club is dead, and they offer reduced entrance fees for couples, single fems and single guys.
Most importantly, they will often allow single guys into the club without being members. I personally sat on the waiting list for 8 months at chams before I gained my single membership there. Several of them have also provided a buffet at no extra cost to the people attending.
I think you will find that its the party organisers approaching the club, rather than the club approaching the party organiser.
Finally, having spoken to a number of people at Chams who are not members of SH, they often read the LMU forum and if the socials look like they will be well attended, they turn up anyway and join in the fun.
