As usual, you're not quite right. There is no legal restriction on the age at which you can get a credit card in the UK. However, any contract signed with a minor (under 18) is unenforcable,and therefore credit card companies will not issue a credit card to under 18s. Also, though it's a minor point, you never 'own; a credit card. It's usually part of the ts and cs that the card remains the property of the credit card company, so they can take it off you any time they like.
