Sorry Kent, I was re-reading this thread. Illiterate implies an inability to read and write. Do you mean inarticulate?

Most people I know who have met Gordon Brown - and I know a couple of people who have fairly regular meetings with him - say he is far from an 'illiterate baboon'. I think there is a general acceptance that whilst he might not be the most comfortable public speaker (and very few people are) then he is in no way illiterate or stupid (which I'm guessing is where you were going with the 'baboon' comment?)

An ability to speak persuasively and confidently is not necessarily an indicator of either intelligence, integrity or leadership ability. Most conmen and dictators, after all, are good speakers!

I think an almost blind man can be excused for having appaling handwriting, but this mother and her reactions have i think been discussed on another thread.

I was giving an example as to his spelling errors, which I have done.

This had nothing to do with his poor handwriting....read the whole artical not just the first line. icon_wink.gif

Is there any reason as to why something cannot be discussed again?

He was anti-tobacco and a vegetarian as well - do the comparisons still work?

the reason not to discuss it again is poor spelling, which is debatable as it may be poor handwriting, was covered, many examples were given as to why it in no way relates to intelligence or disrespect , these were ignored because you have decided on little knowledge what you believe Gordon Brown is like.
