Ok, but the point i was making then was about vermin in general and the need for culling.

Off topic somewhat, I think the biggest problem rats cause these days is not disease, (in this country at least) its property/food stock damage.

You are dead right, blow there bloody heads off I say! My only thought was that a shot gun was not the ideal wepon for urban areas.

The comment I made below was rather tongue in cheek

That is very different, rats are horrible disease ridden little creatures. Below is an old story which springs to mind. Keep in mind that this pub already served pork, beef, lamb, and chicken....etc

Actually, I didnt read the squirrel story earlier - I just saw squirrel and ... well anyway I've just read it! What kind of planet are we living on??? Firebombing a restaurant because they sell meat from a particular animal thats no different to any other edible animal but happens to be a bit cuter than a cow (and a damn sight more destructive, unless said cow is in your roof, then you're pretty fucked).

So long as an animal is dead, who cares a flying fig what it was when it was alive? OK some animals ir unpleasant to eat - I read somewhere that whale meat is vile, and meat-eater are supposed to be very strong tsating. But apart from personal taste (and an animal being on the endangered list) - if a person can eat cow, they can eat anything.

I was very pleased to read this report, not really the correct thread for this one, but did not think it worth starting a new one

Her finger was NOT bitten off. A piece from the tip was bitten, you could do worse chopping onions (I know I have!) Yes, it will have been scary and painful. But inflamatory, plain wrong headlines like this hardly add anything useful to the wider (beyond this forum) debate.

Very scary if you had young children in the same room I would think, I would imagine many stories in the papers are equally over exaggerated.
