Sorry if I can't see the point - maybe t'is me being dense... dunno.gif

Seems that some people do not want to discuss anything Nola.

I started the thread to let people know good and bad about their councils.

IF people do not want to discuss but merely to annoy, then move on to another thread....there are a few to choose from on here.

Or possibly with the sole intention of seeing this thread go down the same road as the other one perhaps dunno.gif

Trouble is Kenty that you don't want to debate either. So the thread will become a tussle between you and your acolytes citing endless claims, counter-claims and evidence of variable quality to try and prove your assertions about councils, and those of us who know something about councils pointing out that planning cases that go back to 1984 cited through the eyes of a vexatious complainant are hardly good evidence and so on. And if that does happen, as you've pointed out, the thread will spiral downhill until the mods pull it.

Or we might just point out that the working hypothesis behind the thread is obsessive, tedious, self serving and utterly nihilistic since you seem to do nothing about the issues that vex you so except post about them on a sex related section of t'interweb thingy. Which is either funny or sad, depending on your viewpoint.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results each time- so you're either mad or you're trying to provoke an offended reaction from people who don't share your nihilistic world view. Which is it Kenty?

i dont think its either !!!
the last thread ran for 29 pages more than any other in current affairs and it was far from finished when it was pulled

just think of this thread as part 2 there`s still more to be added

this letter was written by a serving police officer who also see`s the problem with councils

Dear Ian,

I have now just read your reasons for creating the website.

I can sympathise with the things that you have seen in local Government.

I have found similar things in my part of the country (Cornwall) and West Yorkshire (where I was born and lived for over 33 years).

I have worked in the NHS, in Teaching and the Police Force. I have also put local authorities to the test. One thing that is very clear is that there is a culture or parasitism. The problem is so bad that the 'tape worm' is killing the host in my opinion, yet the 'movers and shakers' (contradiction in terms) of these system are stupidly unaware of what they are doing.

They have become drunk with power and are oblivious to their wrongdoing. I have seen so much waste, where expenditure is not necessary and certainly not a priority. I have seen too much justification of inaction where certain action was the reason for the organisation being there in the first place (health care workers not carrying out proper health care, Police Officers making excuses by lying about the law to fob off members of the public, being passed around the houses in ever decreasing circles by local authority personnel when persisting with an enquiry and so on). I simply feel that we are paying money to oligarchies which perpetuate themselves whilst presiding over misery. They appear to be working to an agenda (I could speculate in the case of the Police) of keeping the money for themselves rather than paying for the services that they are supposed to provide.

We would be better off not having them at all in many cases for the benefit provided.

I share your disbelief and anguish.

I feel that it is time for people to refuse to pay for these services. If we were buying services from the private sector we would be able to refuse to pay and be backed by law under trades description legislation. What a disgusting game they play.

Keep up the good work. It is only by the choice few brave souls sticking their necks out that change ever takes place. But it will take place, this nonsense simply cannot be sustained.

A serving Police Officer (Name supplied).

Is that really the definition of insanity? Check again.

Doing the same thing repeatably is called OCD....check it out you may learn something.

That is not to say I have that, neither am I mad just letting people decide for themselves about their councils. Now we all know you do not like these kinds of threads as they constantly show up the very people you seem to know.

It seems without any doubt that your main objection is to get threads locked that you do not like.

The last two threads that were taken off were a direct result of comments you made....will let others make their own minds up on that one.

Tell me....what are you so afraid of over threads like this? I am intrigued to know.

As has been said already, the last council thread ran for 27 pages, yes 27 of them so people must have wanted to post in them, or do you simply not like the fact that councils and a lot of their employees are useless at what they do, and do not put their residents before their own mad decisions?

Which is it Away?

In fact do not answer that one, as I would much rather seeing as you despise this thread so much, refrain from posting in it. That way it will hopefully remain open for others to post in, or is your objection simply to annoy posters who do decide to post?

Move on to another topic that interests you and stay out of this one if it bothers you that much....I bet you do not though. icon_wink.gif

Just wanted to clarify that this is Ken's assumption based on the limited facts he has available to him and should not be regarded as accurate. icon_wink.gif

I am glad that you have come and issued the warning, as now maybe people who want to post can.

Someone asked for an explanation, I gave it. If that's bickering, thank you for the education.

so it seems the people might be given the power to vito council tax rises

does this mean that they would have to prove that they are value for money

certainly things would have to shape up to get the public to agree a rise
looks like a plan icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

A Council near to me,

This is a couple wrongly investigated for not living in the catchment area for the school they applied for.

I understand that it is perfectly reasonable for a council to investigate some one if they feel some one is deceiving them. What I am not sure about is, is it right for untrained council staff to undertake, undercover surveillance on people? Surely this is a job for professionals

Don't get me wrong, I would never support any one from outside the catchment area who attempted to steal a place from some one who lived within the catchment area, its total and morally wrong, but as I see it not yet a crime.

Perhaps the knowledgeable persons among us could shed some light please.
