Have these politicians no fucking shame?

I do not think this man has anything worthwhile to say, he gave it large when times were good, but when things went badly wrong, he did not have a fucking clue.

Check the state of the country now....so much for being Chancellor...I would not trust him with a bag of sweets.

IF people are prepared to pay money to listen to him waffle, then they are obviously part of the care in the community scheme. They should be banged up like they used to be. icon_twisted.gif

Ahhhhh and Thatcher didn't make a tidy sum waffling her way round the world after she was ousted from downing street? Politicians of any colour, like anyone else have the right to make a living after they have left office whether that be in a board room, a pressure group, or on the lecture circuit. Politicians are no different from anyone else in the job market in that they use what they have acquired over the years to make a crust. Perhaps we should pay politicians a pension and forbid them to work after they have left office?

I could be wrong but I thought the thrust of the threads was the fact that Gorden Brown said, as he left office, that he would not be going on the gravy train like his predecessor, Mr Blair has.

I was in the UK at the time and remember him saying it but I can't now find the reference. Was it in his speech to the party faithful after he had his audience with The Queen at Buck P and before flying up to Scotland with his family?

It was certainly not on the steps of Downing Street I recall.

It wasnt in his resignation speech,i shall continue looking.i am interested because it would be very different issue. All politicians earn money after they leave office. However to have said you wouldnt do it,well hypocrisry is one of my pet hates,to say one thing and do another would matter a lot more to me.

Ahhhhh but you know how these threads wonder!!!!

It just goes to show that human nature has to find a scapegoat and often "create" a narrative by which they can legitimise sometimes extreme actions for some very petty reasons. The question of writing and lecturing was put to Brown by Andrew Mar during the recent election campaign and Brown refused to answer it directly which is normal practice for politicians of any persuasion throughout the world. As for duplicity? If duplicity were to disqualify people from debate, many of the active people in forum would find themselves disqualified.

But then we can always change our minds, that too is human.

Brown's nose in the trough

Apparently the pages are twin ply, ultra soft and perforated to make them easy to rip out.
