New SH Chat Beta Test: You can now test the chat simply by going to the Chatroom Section, and clicking on the buttons labelled 'Launch Beta Chat' or 'Launch Desktop Chat'. We need as many people as possible to test it, so feel free to spend as much time in there as you can!

HI Guys and Gals,

Just a short update on the chat. Lee's been working hard here for the last couple of weeks finalising some bits on the chat (stuff you won't see but is needed). We're also working on a hardware upgrade for the whole of SH before this goes in (hence the downtime periods recently).

Once the above is completed, and we've done a little bit more load testing, the chat will come out of beta and come fully live. Timescale its going to be at least 1 week away, but more than likely closer to two weeks if we find no further issues. This however could extend further should further things need to be addressed, but I think this is quite unlikely as its had extensive testing already.

The beta chat is still available and usable for everyone to use, although no one seems to be - I don't know why because its much better! This thread will stay open for further discussion if needed.

Thanks to everyone who has tested, given us input, and helped so far. Hopefully we can all enjoy it in the very near future.

I usually visit this site using a laptop set to 1280 x 800. screen resolution.

When I go to the chatroom page, I don't even see the 'click here for beta chat' button.

I'd have to scroll down the page to see it.

Hi, yesterday evening I tried the new Desktop version and this version isn't saving settings between 'sessions'; for example font colour, font size or camera size aren't saved. Ted

There was an error authenticating with the chat service.

chat works great for me but when my BF tried signing on on my computer on same browser it wont work just says done but blank screen

when I try to open chat I get a blank screen with "Invalid callback request." at the top.

Is the chat broken or is it just me?

Also like to add that he can log in on the desk top icon once i uninstalled and re installed it so he can hget on that way, not good for when ppl are on a public or shared pc though.

I'm into meeting people and chatting not high tec dashing about on the site - dont understand the new chatroom entry at all - cant we leave it as it is?
