right i tried on vista on fire fox and on IE8 neither worked so i went on my other laptop on win 7 on both firefox AND ie8 and still it wont launch?

I also installed teh desktop icon and attempted to access that way but got the error message on boyth vista and win & weird though as some ppl are getting in no trouble n other are which is why i tested on both to see if it was a vista conlflict.

Oh and i already have this version of adobe air too on both win 7 laptop and vista one.

If you only see 1 logon option on the Chatroom page - with the message 'As you have an older browser....'etc, then you are running IE8 in 'compatability mode'.

Issue Resolution:

IE8 > Tools > compatability view settings = off

Restart IE8, log back on to the site , Chatroom , you should now see the twin logon's for the new Chatroom.

Click on LAUNCH BETA CHAT and you should be in.

In Opera bold, italic and underline don't show in chat to the Opera user, though bold and italic to show in the message box as you type.

minor issue

if pasting a link and using the http:// form - the chat interprets this and insets a smiley from the IM ( :/ )

Actioned, i.e. IR8 'compatability' switched off and IE8 restarted.

Now we can see the "Launch Beta Chat" and "Launch Desktop Chat" options under Chatroom (http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk/chatroom/?k=b61b4aadc14e54bd3ac1c224b454cdaf )

However trying the "Launch Desktop Chat" option does now bring up the userid/password login screen, however using existing SH login of "hns" and "usual password" results in "Invalid username or password" error.

A test of the "SH Chat" desktop icon still shows the same "Invalid username or password" error.

However if at the Chatroom screen we try "Launch Beta Chat" we get straight into the new Chatroom without being prompted for a userid/password, i.e. as expected with existing chatroom access.

As a quick test we've opened Chatroom in a different window and flicked IE8 compatability view on and off. This 'toggles' the Chatroom screen between seeing only "Launch Beta Chat" being displayed (on) and "Launch Beta Chat" and "Launch Desktop Chat being displayed (off), without the need to shutdown IE8.

Elliott,

did a test with Gofun, by opening a test room, generala (green) not private (red).

However unable to locate usual room host controls, i.e. general clear chat or to kick a user, which they advise were there yesterday.

mm Kick seemed to appear after going into a wispa with that user

Further testing with Gofun.

1) Copy function of chat text seems to be random, i.e. can't select text to copy, or can select partial text or occasionally full text

2) As previously reported, if you add http://www.swingingheaven.co.uk etc. url into chat, then you can get a emoticon between http and the 2nd / However this only appeared on my view of the chat screen, i.e. Gofun just saw the url as intended rather than the emoticon having being inserted
(however in Pool one that St3v3 posted also showed the emoticon issue)

3) When opened cam, rather than the traditional 'eye' icon appearing over the profile (s) watching in the "members"/Chatters list, we now have the "Watchers" list. Given the space available and having to 'toggle' between Live Cams and Watchers options, believe that this will lead to some frustration and confusion.

4) If undertaking whispers in the traditional view, i.e. they appear in order amongst general chat convo's in the main screen, then would it be possible to better highlight whispers ?
(Appreciate that can't use italics now we have the bold, italic and underline options, or is the idea that all use the tab and 'separate' general or whisper option of separate screens rather than single view ?)
Update - see comment against item 6. Reasonably happier with Whispers in new chat now

5) Speaking of bold, italics and underline. This appears to be for the whole 'send' line rather than being used to highlight portions of text within that line, a more useful facility

6) On Whispers, switching from whisper mode back to general chat under 'Chatroom settings', 'show whispers' (options either Off, inline with chatroom or in separate tabs) doesn't seem as slick as the existing Chat
Update - Further 'play'/testing and familiarity seems to have resolved the issues we encountered. Suggest that additional ? help panels are developed/deployed as the new functionality is not intuative as is

7) The new camera options are brilliant, the quality is so much better (depending on options selected)

8) New 'pop out' camera is good

9) When in Pool had Rich_k and St3v3 cams up. Against Rich_k cam under 'expand' 'speaker' and 'x' options had a white windows type pop up box with just "rich_k" (line 1) and "st3v3" (line 2), however no similar window/pop up in same place on st3v3 cam. Curious
Update - now understand, thanks for explaining why when online in the Pool earlier, not an issue now we understand

also running Kaspersky and all browser sessions in 'sandbox', but no obvious issues (apart from previous access issue) so far.

I'll update my first post and do a reply as bugs are fixed.

The login issue is now resolved. All users should have compatibility off in IE8, the separate bug in the Events section has now been fixed so you don't need compatibility turned on there either.

Thanks,

Elliot
