Why is everyone so down, I don't get it. Has something gone wrong with the site?

As is being discussed in another thread I dont think its the site its the forum. The forum makes up a very tiny % of the site users. I have met more than one site member in chat and by PM that did not even know a forum existed. The forum seems to have taken a downturn in number of people posting over the last 8-10 months in my opinion. I doubt that the site its self is any worse off member wise than it was 8-10 months ago. Best of luck I say to anyone who is considering the big push off. I dont try to be in their shoes as an old free member its a bit hard to contemplate if I would pay for this service or not.

Fair enough.

I think forums tend to be on the down slide.

When the net first started forums where all over the place. But real time experiences seam to be what everyone is about nowa days. Twitter, IM, chatrooms etc.

Why wait for a response when you can get instant gratification. Humanity has always been the same, faster faster faster. You can't stop progress.

Also when they do go on a break they never tell us what to do whilst they are away, or in the event that they never come back.

It seems a bit one sided nay slightly irresponsible to leave us to our own devices when they swan off doing exactly what pleases them. Which in this case is nothing more for the time being.

I mean we are left to assume something which may not necessarily be what they want us to assume. having made an exit of sorts, it seems contradictory to come back almost immediately to put us right in our imaginings.

Although many do return having had a break and soon take up their old roles and status as if they had never gome away.

So I wonder if having a break or simply not joining in are any different?

Some people actually do take a break though - nothing wrong with that.
However, some just say they're going to but continue to post and add their names to munch lists etc.

i think its unlikely that the originators of these type of threads simply walk away. in fact their use of the site becomes more intense as they keep checking the thread to see the results.

equally everyone else is fascinated by the variety of responses, thus creating more traffic to the thread. which you would imagine the op had actually wanted not to happen, as they had tired of the site and its peculiar ways.

Nah i don't believe that. If you don't want this to happen and are that tired of the site then just take a break without posting to see if anybody is bothered. We all get fed up of certain matters on here so could you imagine if there was a 'Cafe' full of this kinda post. Genuin people wanting to have a break isn't a problem but don't post for attention. Plus you can still read this forum without signing in 12 hours after opening a 'Taking a break' thread.

Joe.. where are you? Why you not posting on this thread seeing as your here?? Fancy abandoning your own thread but posting on other peoples lol icon_wink.gif

You can if you just go, without announcing it to the forum icon_lol.gif
