that was wicked.
the way i interpreted it was that joni is the author(perhaps that wasnt the intended interpretation)...a chat between an old conscience and a fresh one, ...'mental jukebox' nice

edit: read more of your stuff....very impressed..propa style, thanks for sharing them

from the teenage days..

=of dark lips=
somehow she covers me with her world
leaving out all my pollution n all my worries
somehow she saves me everytime
without doing anything but talking to me
and then when she leaves she is still there
it doesnt make sense, in a way i dont want it to
as maybe then it wont mean as much

i dont have to hear her voice, just the memory of her,
not even the things she said, but the fact that she
thought and felt that way when talking, the fact that
i was talking to 'her' - this weird entity...
that is enough to create this warmth so strong that
it massages my foundations...it makes me strong

the best thing about it is that it refuses to
let me depend on it, so that i can never be hurt by it,
by her. u see, it doesnt make sense. its ok, some things arent meant to make sense.
hell we only have five senses in this infinity.

Hi,
hope nobdy minds if a totally new newbie adds to this thread?
just a few words I have read or heard really but they all touched me!

They are decieved who flatter themselves that the ignorant and debased slave has no conception of the magnitude of his wrongs.

they are deceived who imagine that he arises from his knees with back lacerated and bleeding,
cherishing only a spirit of meekness and forgiveness.

A day may come-it will, if his prayer is heard a terrible day of vengence,
When the master in his turn will cry in vain for mercy
Solomon Northup

Words
themselves- the very material of our discourse

Dennis Potter

there's things i want
there's things i think i want
there's things i've had
there's things i wanna have
do i want the dreams the ones were forced to see
do i want the perfect wife, the word perfect aint quite right
shopping every day, take it back the next break
they say the more you fly
the more you risk your life

i'm just looking i'm not buying
i'm just looking, keeps me smiling

This one I wrote a year ago when I woke up and discovered my son was twelve and I had spent most of his waking life at work .

For when the day was over
and the wages had been won.
I came back to my fireside
to spend time with my son.
To talk, to laugh, and play awhile
as was in years long past.
To live each precious moment,
in the hope these times will last.

Alas these times are so short lived,
and children grow so swift.
Sweet memories are all thats left,
but still a precious gift.
So Fathers look upon your Sons,
and help them grow and play.
Remember deep within your heart,
they will be like you one day

I have removed this poem because it was mis-interpreted.

So Wendy .............. here goes

When I am in a sober mood..... I worry work and think
When I am in a drunken mood .......... I gamble play and drink
But when my moods are over and time has come to pass
I hope they bury me upside down so the world can kiss my arse !!!

Miss ya and love ya ............... keep a bottle of brandy for me kiss.gif (trying so hard not to be sad ! )

~ Death is Nothing At All ~

Death is nothing at all.

I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I. You are you.
Whatever we were to each other - that we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the same easy way that you always used to.
Put no difference in your tone.

Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed.;
At the little jokes we enjoyed together.

Pray, smile, think of me.
Let my name be the household word that it always was.,
Let it be spoken without effect, without trace of shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant,
It is the same as it ever was.
There is no unbroken continuity.

Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?

I am waiting for you, for an interval,
Somewhere very near - just around the corner.
All is well.

Hope it helps Sam - it helps me.

DO NOT STAND AT MY
GRAVE AND WEEP

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not sit by my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am the song that will never end.
I am the love of family and friend.
I am the child who has come to rest
In the arms of the Father
who knows him best.

When you see the sunset fair,
I am the scented evening air.
I am the joy of a task well done.
I am the glow of the setting sun.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!

Someone sent me this when my mum died, and I thought it was beautiful.
I'm sorry for your loss and pain hun, it does get easier with time.

This is a poem by Mary Frye although I've never seen this elongated version before.... I'm not sure if Mary wrote the second part as I've only ever seen it accredited to her with the first section.. Interesting.. thanks Sassy.

This was read out in the church at the funeral service for the husband of one of my best friends... the words are haunting and rolled around in my mind for weeks after... i pass the graveyard where he lies every day... and those words still linger in the air.....

Bleeding

She works
While I bleed:
Tapping keys and laughing,
Impervious to my need.
Time passes
At differing rates:
I scream with the colic of rejection;
She talks of Neighbours with her mates.
And now the hour hand moves to five,
She takes her coat and leaves
A walk
A bus
A homecoming
To a home I could have given.
And now he takes her in his arms
She flirts and slowly yields:
A kiss
An embrace
Prelude to the act
My love should have driven.
Beneath my sheets I sob
As other sheets are tossed.
Another’s seed strikes home
As all my life is lost.
She moans
While I bleed

Hi,

I hope you don't mind me critiquing this. It's a force of habit as I used to be a critique editor on an online poetry forum.

This stands up well as a poem but I believe it could be so much more. Reading it aloud (which is how ALL poetry should be read) it becomes a collection of short statements and loses it's coherance and bonding. You have the basis of a good strong romantic poem about lost / forbidden love here and I would expand upon that. You do have a talent for poetry, no doubt about that at all ... but I feel a rhyming scheme would enhance this poem a great deal (I know rhyming poetry is considered old fashioned and outdated with the current poetry community - but I like good structured rhyming poetry). Good work though, I did enjoy the read and the emotions are familiar to me also having been there myself many years ago.

Friends

Friends
Friends smile at you.
They like your face.
They want to be with you
Any old place.

Friends have fun with you.
Friends share
They’re glad when you’re happy---
When you’re sad, they care.

If you’re a friend
Then you care, too.
That’s why your friends

Are glad you’re you!!!

Hello everyone. icon_wink.gif
This thread seems as good as any for my 1st post on the SH Forums so here's one of my favourite little rhymes...

Sticks & Stones May Break My Bones
But Whips & Chains Excite Me............
So........,Throw Me Down & Tie Me Up
Then Spank & Cane & Bite Me...........!!
