the government is being petitioned to give a royal pardon to the 2 thousand,4 hundred ish people (mainy women) executed as witches in england and scotland.
i presume that most right thinking folk these days accept that the only dark forces at work were jealousy ,self interrest and superstition,but no government,or the church has ever acknowledged the wrong done.

good point,but at least when people worshipped the sun,moon,thunder,booze,sex,etc,at least these were tangible things and so made more last couple of thousand years has got millions really believing in stuff they cant see,but accept that bronze age preachers actually had conversations with days we lock em up,or pick up the pieces ie david koresh,or even george bush

who missed the point Dawkins is the prophet of doom,his explanations cannot proof that God doesnt exist!...on this programme he took a bunch of school kids and tried effortlessly to convince them out of their religious believes but in vain!
the burden of proof is not with dawkins,as he is not the one making the claim for the existence of god/heaven/hell as you cannot prove that the flying spaghetti monster or russell`s teapot dont for that matter you cant prove that the thousands of other gods from other cultures and times weren`t real/
Dawkins just points out the illogicallity of such beliefs,and the human traits that promote them.
once read a quote that said "we are all atheists,i just believe in one less god than you"

What does NORMAL mean?
Sometimes working out what something is is easier if you work out what it isn't first, and at what point in time you start working from.
For example, breathing is normal, the wearing of clothes isn't. If it was we would be born with them. It's an adaptation to our environment whose only purpose was to provide warmth. That evolved into a way to show superiority (Chief's robes etc), then it became a way for others to control us whether it be to prevent the shameful display of our bits or for us to fit in to a particular group. So no, clothes aren't 'normal' they are just what we are used to.
I'm not about to write a book so aren't going to go onto things like lifestyle choices, sexual choices etc as they all follow a similar evolution.
Normal is just whatever the majority of people is used to at any particular time and bears no similarity to what is right or what is wrong.
strictly speaking,normal is a mathematical term,which has to relate to the sample group,ie, breathing is absolutely normal for us (in fact essential)but for fish, insects and some species that dont even use oxygen at all,breathing is totally abnormal.
the wearing of clothes is a lifestyle choice,usually driven by necessity due to climate,or in the last few hundred years by the religious zealots who took away the innocence of other cultures where the climate was moderate and nudity was the norm

the clubs we use (cupids and adam/eves)have very friendly staff,nice bar areas to socialise without any pressure, for singles or us this means we have the choice to just relax at the bar, have a sauna or jaccuzi,or even just watch a film.

i agree,we live in a society where perception matters more than that get nationwide,instant coverage,would have only been local news in the 60`s or 70` we all think we have rapists,murderers and paedophiles next door.

didn`t make it clear last night but there were 3 older children there too,about 7 ,8 and 10. only a small pub,about the size of 3 living rooms,open plan so there was nowhere remotely safe if anything happened,nowhere quiet for them to avoid the adult behaviour that happens in pubs.
