Why should anyone explain their reasons for having friends/being in groups to you? Perhaps you should allow people the freedom to join groups/make friends as they wish, without question - it's not hurting anyone, after all 
didnt ask fo their explinations at all, just an observation and an interest.

we really cant see the point in adding "friends" who are hundreds of miles aways and lets face it the chances of actually meeting are remote in the least, it also begs the question as to why invite or add friends whom you may never meet.
we also really cant see the point of joining tens of groups whos interestes range from extreem to extreem.
the most we have seen is "a current member" with nearly 1000 friends and they have also joined to most of the groups here as well!!!
