what is happening in the uk at the moment is that organisations such as hospitals, social services, schools etc are completing and updating their emergency planning arrangements in case we do have a major outbreak here, for example the local authority i work with has already held one meeting before the news about swine flu broke as if they were expecting something and now this week we will finalise arrangements but obviously things will change because of staffing arrangements at that time etc

two weeks ago I had to attend a meeting been arranged by our local authority on how we would deal with a flu pandemic if we were to have one so all I will say is that plans are been made on how to deal with it
as an employer who has several pregnant staff at the moment I would say that it is difficult for an employer in these times but the law does fall down on the side of the employee. You have the right to return to work in your pevious capacity eg hours and job but you also have the right to flexible family friendly working hours. However your employer also has to cover the needs of the service that they are providing. It is best to try and solve your differences with your employer but ACAS are very good with this sort of thing if you have no union in your place of work
dean thank you for organising last night it was nice to meet up with some people that we havent seen for a long time and also gave us the chance to have a look around the club.
