I know it looks like that from my forum avatar and details, but check my profile, I joined in Sept 2003, so well before the cut off for "free" membership. I'll 'fess up to being a "free" member here.
But this is not an untypical business model. Shoppers in supermarkets who do their shopping in person are subsidizing those who do it online and have it delivered, without questioning the "fairness" of it. Just a thought

All may seem well, but not necessarily - system restore will remove the registry keys - but the files will remain. So you can run the system normally but it is still infected.

Just out of interest, was "System Tool" what you got hit with? This is a fake anti-virus that seems to be particularly prevalent at the moment, not that hard to remove though, just takes a bit of time. Best advice to avoid is keep your OS patched and anti-virus up to date.
