A selfie-taking driver was threatened with a 'wedding present' of six penalty points and a £200 fine after the reflection in his sunglasses showed him to be behind the wheel.

The photo was shared from a account under the name Pete Hemsley and the handle @geordie_aviator with the caption: 'Last night as a single man. Married man as of tomorrow. Can't wait to marry my princess @geordieprincess so beautiful'.

But, the dedication to his fiancee backfired, as the reflection in his sunglasses appeared to show that the photo he had just taken had been done so while he was on a busy dual carriageway.
