30 seconds to find another room

sorry to moan again but for gods sake 30 seconds to find another room when there is no host is a bit over the top please have a bit of respect for us paying members and make it at least 1 min, in that time the chat op could interact and have the banter like sgt bilko for example, it amazes me why some ops just come in paste a statement in the room then close the room down.
and this is supposed to be constructive statement to maybe change the 30 second shite rule

30 seconds isn't too bad - you can do a lot in that time cool

It's time enough to suggest to the Op that you will open a new room with a similar name for people to go to if they wish. I've yet to see an occasion when an Op hasn't agreed to that.
What is it with people constantly flaming the Ops? They have a job to do; it's not personal, just let them get on with it!

Was Mr Mish flaming Ops? I didn't read it that way. Seemed to me he was just asking for more time to leave a room. You suggested a possible course of action. All perfectly reasonable don't think flaming Ops came into it.

This topic has been raised several times in the past - and always with the same outcome - the general consensus being that 30 seconds is ample time to find another room.
Most of the ops will happily wait a while longer if someone is in the process of opening another room.
The problem with giving more time to leave is that people continue to join the room long after the warning of closure has been given and we have keep repeating that the room is closing . . . . this could go on indefinitely and quite frankly the op's do not have enough time to sit in unhosted rooms all day/night giving the closure warning, or wating for everyone to gather themselves up and find another room confused

For example, I gave the "closing room" warning in a room last night - and was totally and utterly blanked by everyone in there.
Not one person left the room and everyone carried on chatting.
I then changed the colour of my font to ensure that my warning was noticed - and yup - still all carried on chatting - so I waited 30 seconds and closed the room rolleyes

In any event, once the new system is up and running, all rooms - apart from admin ones - will close automatically 30 seconds after the host leaves, so unless the host announces that they are leaving to warn everyone the room will close, everyone will be bounced into another room anyway :?
I appreciate it is irritating to have a room closed when you may be engaged in a chat, but on the other hand members must appreciate how busy the op's are - we simply do not have the time to be ignored just because people may be engaged in conversation :?

Couldn't the new chatroom be setup so it's not possible to join a room that's in the process of closing? Or an indicator in the room list, e.g. "Talking Rubbish ...closing"?

It's not just Bilko that can talk the hind legs off a donkey ,all us ops can rolleyes

.when I join a room I tend to chat to the people wether I'm there to close it or not but sometimes I just don't have time as TJ says, so its a close and run. :roll:

If it's what I'd class as a "regularly" opened room. NW, South Wales, Midlands, BDSM etc, then I do ask if anybody wants to open a new room. Often this is just ignored. and the 30 second warning follows.
If the room is one that's just been set up for a specific purpose.
"one legged dwarf seeks MMF on the isle of Lundy" then I'll just issue the 30 second rule if I find it unhosted.
It's sort of like applying a little common sense to the role?
