ok i have to admit i'm kinda confused about what this forum is actually for, its it a kinda cafe but only for chat room related chat?
if so is it just going to be full of posts moaning every time the chat rooms down?
and if it is a forum for chat room related chat why not just go and chat in the chat room

More than likely so ;-) Plus it might stop some of the cafe regs moaning about chatroom people going into *their* domain to have a moan about the chatroom ;-) :lol:

Personally I think it will help the Chatroom ops, find any problems quicker, as I am sure the forum Mods will move chatroom related stuff into here.
More chatroom ops may help as well, as the figures don't really balance, with real life, jobs, kids etc etc etc, there can be 1000+ people in the chatrooms and only one op on, I bet they must be pulling their hair out some times..
The forum has 100 or so on line at any one time and 3 to 4 Mods can generally be found.
I know they also have the ads, stories, photos, twats and tossers to deal with as well.

This lounge is under trial for 4 weeks and if at the end of that period it isn't really useful or causes problems then it will disappear.

I don't think so hunni. I think it would be more inviting for chatters to come here than venture into the unknown realms of the Cafe. Maybe then they will see we don't ALL have 2 heads and spout bollocks at every opportunity.
Well ok, I take back the bit about spouting bollocks but it may make them a little less hesitant to come over to the Dark Side.
Why don't we all make an effort tonight to go into a chatroom you don't normally use?

Good Idea I've heard chat types saying they feel a tad unwelcome or words to that effect in the cafe so if it gives them some thing they feel a bit more at home in when it comes to asking questions getting advice it can only be a good thing. Let them have their own bit of the forum and you never know if they like it they may start using to cafe from time to time as well
Besides if they struggle to find the Q&A sticky there is no chance of them missing a complete chatroom forum

Rather than create a further divide I think it could have the opposite effect! Kind of a 'no mans land'.
We can see the chat room worries and grumbles, should we choose to read them, rather than feeling anything negative, and maybe even get to know a few people! This may also encourage a few more folk to venture into the Cafe!

great idea more work for the mods to do should keep them busy
I didn't even know the forum was having an extension built ! :shock: Yet there it is today !
Good idea, would like to see it used properly and for the purpose it was built, just hope it doesn't collect spiders and junk - but do have to agree that the mods have more than their work cut out for them - so good luck to them and a well deserved
to keep them going behind the scenes.

I have been host on the "forum chat" room on server one. It seemed to me that there was some demand for a chatroom for forum cafe people that could be a sort of hybrid between the cafe and other chatrooms. As one can see from the amount of traffic in the cafe and indeed topics that were "born" from ideas in the "forum chat room" I pm'ed regards a sticky in the cafe about the fact that a room was running.
Because i thought it wrong to spam the cafe when hosts of other chatrooms could not.
I was told that this er lounge would be happening and here it is !

yes steve, i agree there but one could say that this chatroom lounge is a hostless room and needs to be watched by mods rather than ops !

There are many regular rooms in the Chatroom that constantly have 50+ Chatters in there. If you were allowed to have a permanent room then they would have a greater claim to have their rooms made permanent too.
At least with the system we have in place now there is someone responsible for the room at all times (in theory!).

As are the rest of the forums.....
Its basically here for a trial period so chatroom users,thats anyone who uses the chatroom, can post their questions and queries and will be watched intentley by chatroom ops so hopefully answers can be given quicker than they may otherwise be if posted in the Cafe..
Well - you could look at it this way...........
