Hi all, a friend of mine has just joined SH but he can't access the chatroom when he clicks the link. He's tried on my pc signed into his own account but just can't get in. My account B&C is fine. Does this mean he now has to be an Xtra / premium member to use the rooms ? Also on the subject of Xtra accounts has the cost changed ? We paid around £20 for Xtras but it appears to be much more than that now according to the prices that came up on screen ?
Just had a look at prices on his account. It seems they've gone up quite alot. We paid just under £20 for xtras but it does seem he'd have to pay alot more to enjoy the same benefits such as the chatroom etc. Just my humble opinion but a big increase might put a few off. Not looking forward to our Xtras package expiring if we want to renew.
Hiya.. When you joined this site 5 yrs ago as you most likely know, it was totally free with access to what was available on site at that time. In 06 the site was bought and fees came in. As a good will gesture the new site owners didn't charge the members who joined before the cut off date - which was around Dec 06. The xtras package is an option that some members take up to give them additional functions. To use the chat rooms in particular the premium membership is needed - members do not need to have the xtra's package if they don't want it. When the xtra's package is up - you (as an previous member before the take over) will still get full access to the site and be able to use the chat rooms as will other paying premium members. If you have a look around at other sites with similar functions, like chat rooms, picture galleries etc. the pricing here isn't that bad really.... Hope that helps :smile:
I seem to remember from similar queries that an inability to access the chatroom (once you have paid the fee - and not the extras fee - just the fee to make you a fully joined up or 'premium' member) is sometimes to do with not having the right bit of flashplayer downloaded. The actual annual fee to be a member here isn't bad, I don't think. I've only been here three years so have always had to pay. Around £50 per year isn't bad, in my opinion.
