I totally agree gil, tried raising subject in a room, but got shouted down, so i pays me money and get bad service.
I'm sorry there seem to be a few glitches at the mo - Admin are aware and things are being looked at.

what service are you on about ... surly the people who shouted you down are paying customers as well not admin/mods/ops and surly they have a right to voice their opinion as much as yourself and calling it bad service is, in my opinion, wrong.
Frankly the site is now rubbish! .. its to all intents and purposes a "clique " that's why you get shouted down in the rooms when you say anything !
Just wait and see which "mod" or "admin" gives it the "big one" on this
This evening there is nothing wrong with my internet connection ( its actually very fast) and working well on you-tube and all other processor / bandwidth hungry sites yet this site is lagging to buggery .. being booted in and out of rooms regularly and the
mysterious but predictable "no directing rooms " are still working but then they are just cam feeds arent they !
The "stock " and again franky "smug" response "raise a support ticket" doesn't actually help anyone at all ..SH know the problems ( and have done for weeks and seem to have done feck all to fix them ) looks to me simply their servers are full since xmas when they stupidly allowed access to the chatrooms for freebiers .. ( stupid move) up or that the are somehow reducing the size of the server or some such( And yes I am an IT expert!) .. either way as a " paid " service its frankly total rubbish !
If they had anything about them they would either offer free months to those paying monthly or a reduction to annual memberships .. and appear to be remaining silent
It may be time for someone to start countering the adverts with a SH the truth website maybe ? .. just sayin'
Personally I just want my money back now I'm bored with the lack of effort and rubbish excuses you keep giving , and it doesn't like I'm the only one .. so SH can I and indeed anyone else not satisfied with the service you are providing ?

Lack of effort? I'm reasonably sure most of those connected to the site put more than enough effort into it, if you are an IT 'expert' you'd know that a website with the traffic SH seems to generate will fall over occasionally and sometimes more than just occasionally.
Your profile quotes you as a December 2011 Update as having just 'rejoined the site' and here we are just two weeks into Jan 2012 and you want your money back and you're bored with the lack of effort/rubbish excuses you're being given?
Just for the record, we're happy with our membership, we're happy at the fee charged, we're happy with what we get for our dollar....sure the site is flaky at times, sure it's not always a smooth experience in the chat room but for how much the subscription is we consider it money worth spending.
We're not part of any clique and we get an amount of stick for giving the site a thumbs up when and where we can, we get shouted down for exactly the opposite of what you appear to but we don't care, we're happy and if you're not then just move along but whatever you do quit bleating, you're making my eyes bleed.

Skipping past all the other bits because you have mentioned the above a few time.
If you would like to Pm me the members username or send in an abuse report for the cams you say are video feeds I and any other chat op will look into them. I have been in all the No Directing rooms and have not seen 1 cam that I would have suspicion of being a video being played.
As I said send me in a private Pm the users you think are playing videos and I will gladly look into it.
And for the record the site admins/ops/mods dont give it the "big one" we are here trying to help in any way we can.

Asking to raise a ticket is not smug at all and if Admin knew what was causing the problems do you really think they would have not fixed them dunno I very much doubt it banghead
When the site crashes you are not alone we crash aswell and thats why we were up till the silly hours of the morning trying to help members who thought it was there pc's etc playing up.
I doubt what I have said will make any difference to you :dunno:

The only issue I had with the site yesterday was an hour or two of glitches, "502- something" when viewing a profile! From what I saw later that day it was soon fixed.
Let's put this into perspective, the World did not end! The site remained up and running, plenty in the Chatrooms/Forum that where unaware that there was even a problem.
This site is the best site around in my honest opinion - The features on here can not be found on any of the other sites - it's streets ahead.

valid points but. these issues are not being fixed and when they are others start up. how long have these problems been going on for? a lot longer than a few months apparently.
yes the logging out has got much better over the last couple of weeks but as a paying site these issues should be sorted out a lot quicker than they actually are.
the service at times is frankly poor at best when the lag is at its worse and from a personele point of view if you take money for a service that service should be abit more stable than sh is at times.
if admin know about these problems and it takes as long to fix, are there IT experts up to scratch :dunno:
As expected! interesting to see that all respondants are long standing members too .. FYI ..I think I have been a member of one sort since about 2007 so am more than used to the site .. will leave it with you to sort yourselves out , go bust , ..or not..who knows

From experience we've never had a Support Ticket not responded to within 36 hrs (a Bank Holiday weekend excepted) and quite often if it's an actual 'bug' that's been encountered several times they've been identified, fix coded and implemented before the vast majority of other users have even known.
OK for some of the later issues, e.g. the Chat instability over the Christmas/New Year period, lots of work and time went into trying to identify the cause, with the Chat Servers at the backup data centre being reconfigured to an earlier version and the whole Chat service moved from the problem servers across to the backup data centre ones, whilst investigations and fixes to the problem ones continued.
If your an 'IT expert', in which area ?
Can you honestly say that none of your applications have never failed, or that none of the infrastructure it runs on has ever failed ?
With 30yrs + in the industry soon realised that 'shit happens' and it's how companies deal with them that's equally important as having a good product in the first place, SH are one of the better ones.
Consider the Royal Mail website that allows people to calculate their postal costs that was down for more than a month, look at HMRC which is currently showing service issues with Excise Movement & Control and Import Control systems, or HSBC 'loosing' it's online banking, telephone banking and cash point/ATM services in November.
On your contention that "this site is lagging to buggery" , certainly not our experience generally and on the handful of occasions this has happened undertaking basic 'IT diagnosis', e.g. trace routing, ping, network diagnostics, etc. has usually always identified an issue within the UK infrastructure of BT, Virgin, Cable & Wireless, etc. in the routing before we actually reach SH's gateway to the site, rather than within the site itself - though the latter does occur and Support Staff are usually aware and called in to investigate within an industry acceptable period of time.

who to complain to? thats what i want to know. Everytime i get kicked out, everytime my cams don't load properly, who can i go to to say PLease fix it for me? i pay my subscriptions but am i getting a decent service, well since just before christmas it wasn't tooo bad, but since christmas this site has grown steadily worse, today i have been thrown out countless times, My question is this:-
WHEN IS THE SITE GOING TO BE UP AND RUNNING PROPERLY BUG FREE?????
That's an easy question to answer....never! SH is an constant evolving mass of code that without change would be utter tripe.

The support center is always a good place to start, it is always very useful for us if people report any issues that they have on any part of the site, without this feedback we could be unaware that something has malfunctioned.
The site and the server set up is very complex and we continue to make considerable investment in infrastructure at all levels, unfortunately things do go wrong at times.
Friday evening was one of these occasions, there was an issue with the virtualization of the servers, we became aware of the issue around 22:00 and had developers working to stabilise the servers until 00:30, although running the servers were still not as they should be the next morning and repairs/updates were undertaken between 09:00 and 15:30.
We eventually tracked the issue down to an update with the software, despite extensive testing earlier in the week the issue did not manifest itself until Friday evening.
We are aware that some members are occasionally having problems with whispers, its not affecting everyone and those that do experience the problem don't experience the problem all of the time, we are working to find a solution, if you are having this issue would you please enter chat using the debug link under the main entrance.
We would like to apologise for the weekend outages we know it causes every one involved a lot of distress including ourselves.

We are checking the servers, but everyone needs to be aware that Virgin Media are having severe network issues this evening, I'm with them and sites have been up and down all evening for me.

Virgin Media have had severe network issues this evening and we believe that this is likely to be the cause of many problems in connecting to the site this evening, I have also heard that some people with BT infinity may be having issues.

Usually prior to 'dis-connects' chat freezes for about a minute, comes back and then get dis-connect error/dumped out of chat. Did it earlier
However came back into Chat via debug option.
About 1hr later in Pool, all cams froze, then all the chat for about 2 mins+ before circa 30 lines of chat. However rather than usual dis-connect, as expected, went back to working normally, though a couple of others did get 'dumped'.
OK whilst using debug version for Chat didn't disconnect, so you could get a 'dump file', it does seem more tolerant of the 'time out' situation.
Hope this helps the diagnostics
In the space of 10 min this morning the chatroom has booted us out - and I don't mean booted or kicked from a room, I mean SH's chatroom disconnected us for no apparent reason.
And in those few minutes we were in the rooms, we couldn't open cams or view profiles - AGAIN!
What are we paying for! :twisted: :twisted:
