Yes - I had to reload and once in there a lot of the rooms kept dissappearing & then reappearing. Probably a Magic Circle convention lol
all sorts of probs , getting disconnected, room list not loading, and then cant get back in, and im glad its not just us
We're sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems.
To help us investigate what is causing the disconnection, could you please use the alternative chat room entry link on the chat room page shown as a text link just below the 'Enter The Chatroom' image:
"Launch debug mode - helps us diagnose connection problems."
Please mouse click 'Launch debug mode' and use the chat room like you would normally. If there's a problem and you are disconnected, this sends the report to our technical team to investigate.
Thanks,
Admin.
One thing i have noticed of late, it seems to be those with cams on that get chucked out on a regular basis

P_n_B,
Not encountered this issue at all ourselves, but have spent some time helping a couple of friends diagnose a similar issue at theirs.
As this was suspected to be Cam related we got them to run to ascertain which version of Adobe Flash Player software they were running and if not the latest version, to follow the onscreen prompts and to install this
Having addressed that the next simple thing was to get them to save as a browser Favourite and run the Begin Test a couple of times so as to get a reference point.
Then to repeat :
- when logged into SH
- when logged into Chat
- when logged into Chat watching cams
- when logged into Chat running their own cam as well
We had some basic figures to work with and compare.
INFO
- the lower the 'ping test' value in milli-seconds the better with 20ms-30ms reasonably good and anything over 150ms pretty appalling, your download speed is the speed of information coming to you, whilst upload speed is speed of information from you to the internet/SH. (Also a good test to see what you are actually getting if on an up to 8mb, 20mb or whatever internet package)
As and when they encountered being 'chucked out', they'd run again in a separate browser session.
For Couple 1 - it related to a Bandwidth issue, i.e not sufficient available to support both online and on cam, watching cams at the same time.
The simple solution was to change their Chat Room settings ('spanner' icon top right in Chat) and under Camera Quality, to reduce from Ultra to a lower setting.
This seemed to work for their situation.
For Couple 2 - also a Bandwidth issue, but slightly more complicated one.
The speed tests showed at certain times of day, usually on an evening, their speeds dipped dramatically. We then ascertained that they were working via a home wifi connection, so as an experiment we got them to move one laptop to be wired direct to the broadband router/modem and left the other laptop connecting via wifi, then to both run the same speed test at the same time when they were having issues.
This revealed quite a significant difference, with the wifi session being much slower during these evening problem times when compared with other times of day (yes, wired will usually always be quicker than wifi anyway).
Then we got them to look at their suppliers instruction booklet that came with their router/modem and wifi device and ascertain what wifi channels they were actually using. This turned out to be the default settings that the wifi box is shipped with, so they manually changed the wifi channels to some further up the range available, then retested everything - all OK.
It transpired that most of their neighbours all had broadband/wifi from the same provider and everyone locally was being online on an evening and sharing the same default wifi channels, so lots of 'contention' was being encountered.
Whilst they've left their neighbours to live with this, as they've changed their local wifi to different channels, away from the default ones, and they are no longer encountering the same drop out issues (information they aren't sharing with their neighbours for obvious benefit to them)
As ADMIN also mentioned instead of going into Chat 'normally, use the option (small type bit that says "Having problems? Load the chatroom in the same window by clicking debug mode - helps us diagnose connection problems.)" below where you normally click to enter Chat.
Hope this helps.

Boy am i glad i dont have probs cos most of that went whooooosh right over my head, but basically ya saying it seems to be ppls home connections not coping - seems odd tho that all of a sudden a whole load of ppl in different parts of the country are all encountering the same thing tho

might well be a whole load pf users having issues, though a whole load of users not having these issues.
but solutions to some of them that people encounter
remember there's a whole load of wires and cables between where people live and the SH computer centre, so some might be SH related although if some users are having issues whilst users are others not it might just be the bits between them and SH, so always worth a check.
also all ISP's occasionally automatically install software updates to their equipment (think about your Sky or Virgin TV boxes being updated with new menu's etc. periodically, same principle) so not unknown for their routers/modems and hubs to returm to default settings without people realising.
