Finding an op late at night

No I am not looking for late night action with an op !!! ( well, depends who it is wink

)
Last night ( or should I say early morning ) I had an issue with someone in a room that I created. Kicked them. They came back and continued. So I went and sat my ass in the chatop room waiting for someone to come in. ( The coffee in there is awful by the way ) No-one came in and then I looked at list of signed in members and saw there weren't any online. Now I do know that this is a volunteer thing for you guys so am not being unreasonable I just want to know what I should do in a situation like that. I looked at the options under "contact us" and didn't know which way to go.
Advice please.

The best thing to do in such cases is either report it to admin through the usual channels or pm one of the op's. We would deal with it as soon as we come on line, even if it is several hours later.
Room title, appx time and server, along with relevant nick and any details you may have copied from the room logs, although that is not strictly necessary since admin will check the logs anyway.
PM boxes are open all hours, even if the op's aren't ;-)

I managed to find Dawnie last night (or should I say, this morning) at 1:00am so she could close my room down for me as I was going to bed. Although also a Mod, she was not listed as being online in the Forum but I happened on her in Server 2 and she performed what was necessary.
It is difficult sometimes, so I can appreciate what Abilene is saying.
Is there a Duty Op system in place? Sometimes you can never find an Op but 5 minutes later, just like the proverbial number 9 bus, 5 seem to pile in all at the same time.

In short no there isn't. We all do this job on a volunteer basis. We fit it in as and when we can. As you say, sometimes there are many op's on, other times none, but since we all have real lives to live, we can only fit in our opping when we can.
If we were expected to work our duties in shift pattern, I am sure it would not work at all. Since we do this job for free, we would hardly expect to be *told* when we must be on duty confused

At the end of the day, if someone is causing problems and no op's are about, make a note of it, report it and if necessary join another room is all you can do.

Reporting it to Admin is a very effective way of dealing with problems after the event and when I have done this, the matter has been responded to quite early the next day by Admin who have advised the action taken, so I don't personally have a problem with this.
I think we all appreciate the hard work the Mods and Ops do behind the scenes on our behalf

I understand about the private lives I really do and I hope I didn't make it sound otherwise.
When you say report it to an op ... I have to admit a little confusion there because I don't have any ops listed in my friends ( do y'all not like me??? wink

) and can never remember user names exactly off the top of my head. Also would be at a loss as to which op to report it to.

Hi, i can appreciate that sometimes, it is difficult to find an OP online, but in my case 8/10, i have found one, and they have always been very helpful, in sorting problems in the room, or closing it when needed............so thanx guys n girls........keep up the good work biggrin

Maybe if the owners of the site were to pay people for their time, maybe an op would be on most of the time.
Cannot understand how a site this large, that certainly must earn a fair few pennies, can expect people to do it for free! I know there are people who will, but surely would it not make more sense to pay people, rather than rely on people who do it for free, and have to base it around their own lives. Makes no sense to me at all.
