How can I help?

This is following on from a comment I made to Kentswingers in the Stalking thread........
Kent uses two chat ops, he's got used to them and they act immediately if he has a problem and that is great just what admin are aiming for I would have thought...happy chat users.
It got me thinking about opping and how I could do it better. Now bearing in mind I can't be here any more than I am already and that when I am online you can see me and PM if you need me...what else can I/we do that we are not doing already. I havn't discussed this with anyone else it's totally impromptu so if it offends then remove it. I have put it in the cafe as thats where I happen to be at the moment, but again perhaps it's best in the chat forum.
This isn't a thread for anyone to say thanks for sorting out that problem for me in 2005 or whatever it was. it's for helpful constructive criticism.
Do you only use ops you know or you like or do you use whoever is online at the time you need them. If you like a particular op (no names please, this isnt an appreciation thread) why? what do they do that works for you.

Its not a case for us of liking or disliking any op's or mods. I have probably used most at one time or another, with certain problems. But some op's or mods have different ways of dealing with things. As has been said recently about pictures on members profiles. What one will accept another won't.
If we have a problem where we need help there and then we look on the forum page and see who is on, and then contact whoever that might be. If it is a problem that can wait I tend to contact one certain op, who to be honest " does exactly what it says on the tin ". lol

I think they know who they are, and thanks for your helps guys when needed. :lol: Wanna go on me list Fire? :lol:

I 'use' whomever is shown as logged in when I need help.
otherwise I just bitch and whinge to myself about how rubbish the site is and how I can't get any help.
I can't think of anything that the chat ops can do differently. I suppose there could be someone logged in 24/7.. alternatively just be logged in when I am so I have someone to talk to when I need to whinge. dunno

im happy to message any ops online, they all do a great job. smile

Some even have a sense of humour too bolt

Maybe some sort of "commision" wage {depending on new paying members?}

The present array of Ops do a magnificent job. Long may they continue :thumbup:
Admin play their part as well of course. Whilst the Ops can (and do) dish out summary justice which can be a welcome relief sometimes, Admin sort out the problems behind the scenes consistently well.

Always was 8, not sure at the moment tho I think its still the same :lol2: I'm a lot of help aren't I? confused

If I remember correctly one of the members (Venus and Mars? where are they?? I miss some of the fantastic posts they did) did a calender here yrs ago with a theme of seasons. Used to have a link on the LHS to it... looked great!
As for chat room ops... I've found them all to be great and extremely helpful. And one in particular has pretty things I like...:mrgreen:
I find anyone I see on line, around chat or if needed just pm any on one of threads above that list everyone's names....

I like most of the ops on here... but some really annoy me. They do things for no reason. I'm not gonna mention names tho coz then they would make a point of pissing me off even more lol

I'd also like to see more ops that are online checking there mail boxes more often. I have on a few occasions mailed an op for help and 10 mins later they go offline without reading it and don't get it till hours later sometimes.

When a member logs out I'm sure the name is still showing on-line for another 10 or 15 mins.

Yes Anais you are right and it is something I have mentioned before. Maybe an out of office email straight back type of thing would be good and then the person who needs help immediately knows that you are not there and can then get help elsewhere if it is urgent. Either that or get the delay taken off it is possible.
I hate it when this happens to me as I feel it looks like I havn't bothered to try and help.

Generally, we contact an op (have never had to mail a mod before, I don't think) via the forum. If there's none in, just whoever we can think of at the time and mail them.
Just been thinking there, how about maybe two links somewhere on the homepage or down the side over there <<<<<< which say "contact an op" and "contact a mod", then a mail will be sent to all op's or mod's mailbox? It can be used if ur unable to find an op or mod?

I fully understand that ops cannot be on 24/7 and they have there own lives to lead but there has not been any on all afternoon today.
The owner of the chatroom i have been in today left for a few hrs and its been constant directing which really annoys me. Then about the room just went into a mass of arguments. Single guys accusing fems of being men and 1 guy came in screaming and balling to a fem and she had absolutly no idea of what he was on about!!!
I spotted an op online and mailed.. but of course, to late. It must of been in that 10/15 mins where it shows then still online and they left without reading the mail. There is no point mailing admin on a saturday as they don't seem to get it or reply till mondays.
So in the meantime of no ops online... Can somebody please tell me what we are suppost to do?

I try to do whatever I can and whenever I can.
Some of the regular members have my mobile number as they are what I would call friends and if they need me and I'm close to the pc I will sign on and help in any way I can.
I answer all mail that's sent to me ,that's if I get it of course confused

I'd be up for a a calender but it would need to be a very small month I would represent .
Probably February wink

And as for having a sense of humor fss wish I had one lol

PLEASE take notice of when i say... Ops have there own lives and i do not at anytime expect any of you to be here 24/7.
Even if i had an ops number i would never use it if they were offline.

When i open a room... I look after the people in it. It annoys me to see other who open rooms not doing the same. Some may not like me being room host... but on the other hand i know alot of people feel comfortable and have in the past said... "Its lil's room, we're ok"
Maybe its a motherly intsinct to look after others then again some will just look at it as being a grass rolleyes

Don't ever think of yourself as that Lilmiss.
You are a concerned member who cares what happens on here as is the vast majority of the good people on here, the ops mods and admin do a good job but without the members help our job would be a hell of a lot harder.
This site unlike others I could mention, cares about what goes on in it and the conduct of it's members not only towards each other but to the human race in general.
So keep on doing what you are doing people and make this a safe and happy site for all concerned.
