New Chat - General Discussion & Questions
Hi,
Been using the new chat room for a couple of days, haven't really come across any issues.
I am running it on a Macbook OS X 10.6.4 Snow Leopard, using safari 5.1, the desktop chat installed all okay and I've updated it to version 1.0.7.
My built in cam runs fine without having to change the settings like under the current chat room. Just click 'allow' and it runs. I only mention this because mac users have posted before about cams etc.
Bit of feedback for those of us who are not on Windows.

As does Ian. He is on a couples account and one on his own but seeks fun with other couples and yet you haven't included that option?
I personally don't agree to segregated rooms, it just reeks of single males getting a rough deal

It appears that the highlighting of 'extras' members is a bit random - I can see my account highlighted, but when viewing the same on another members pc is shows 'unhighlighted'....

Used the new chat a few times now had no issues but I was using chrome already, well apart from being a single male but that's a curse only joking have met some wonderful people on here. Was just wondering if you have a room where no whispers allowed if it would be possible to disable them when setting up the room.

Thanks for the feedback again. I've updated the first post with fixes today. We're almost there I think. I'll be reviewing any newly reported bugs tomorrow.
Thanks to all those for the new feature suggestions also, we have a big list of stuff we want to do, and this will come quickly after we've launched the chat we have now.
We now have some serious load testing and cross browser compatibility checks to perform before we move onto launch.

Warming the Bed
Hi Elliot,
Couple of things: the Desktop chat room settings (cameras / camera quality / and font size), so are the Text Formating options.
I also wonder if it would be worthwhile showing the desktop version somewhere on the panel.
However I think it's a great improvement - thanks

Not so great that there are now three alphabetical listings of chat users. I can imagine once the rooms become more heavily populated that people can't find the person they want to perv / whisper.
I can understand room hosts / admin / ops being at the top, so that people can get advice if required. (it's an albatross as you get accidentally whispered all the time
).But to then have to wade through extras members and then standard level members to find someone that you are looking for will be frustrating to say the least.
Being able to find somebody that you are looking for. - important to many people.

) but important ? not in my book, sorry.Have to agree with Ian re wading through members list chatting in rooms. With, I believe, no limit to the number of members in any room it will be very frustrating to have to wade through 3 lists to find a particular person(s). Better straight forward alaphabetical list, or better still, limit the number of members in a room as now as well as alphabetical. Also having three servers to access brought some structure to the room organization, I fear that having one long list of rooms is going to be tiresome to search.

in the left section that has who's in the actual Chatroom.
Now that would work a treat.
To be honset I was in two minds if to renew my SH Membership due to the current
econmic situation as money is tight for me but with these new imporvements, I'll stay
a member.

Went into Test Room, with all the 'bots' to do some testing with Buxy (Max and Lee have details of her issue)
When we finished
- clicked "Rooms"
- selected "The Pool"
- clicked "Join"
Then placed back and could see chat in The Pool, however had a 'SH Chat pop up window' headed "Joining Room", in the main body with the 'rotating' count down circle and the text "Please wait while we join you to the room..."
Could see the Pool chat scrolling behind it, but unable to access any Chat functions behind the 'pop up'
After 1 minute, still had the pop up
Only option was to exit Beta Chat and re-join from scratch

As HnS posted, there did seem to be an issue re-joining the pool room from the test room, first time trying to get into pool room, I had to click join twice a to gain access, then got that test whisper which Lee is aware of. Also from the test room the whisper tab stayed with me in to the pool room, it didnt expire once I left and joined another room. Got stuck on my side twice, my posts loaded to chat room, but I couldnt see them, had to log out each time shortly after being in test room.

If you click on the settings button (the spanner in the top right of the chat screen you are given several options.
Show whispers ---> In separate tabs
---> Off
---> In main chat window
Make the change and you can be as slow as you wish

Yep, that was my fault! Looks like my testing room was a bit too much for it. It is back up now.

Might be just something associated with the Test room and all the bots, but today noticed that when posting in there taking circa 2-3 seconds from pressing enter to seeing text in Chat screen,
Switching back to The Pool, then posting to seeing was sub 1 second, as usual.
Is this a feature of this test room today since the crash, or something else ?
(was sub 1 second responses yesterday when doing some testing with Buxy)

Also noticed thatt managed to be in both The Pool and Testing room at same time

Today also started getting the "View user profile" pop up box staying rather than 'collapsing' after looking at a profile.
Re-occurrs after quitting chat and coming back and clearing cache etc.
(seems to occur after 10-12 mins in chat and can recreate after 6-7 look ups)
