New Chat - General Discussion & Questions
Admin keep calling it a 'beta' release. If that is the case why does the main button launch the beta rather than the old chat rooms? This really hasn't been thought through. Any new software needs to be stress tested before it goes live - but not with 'live' users!
I'm a software engineer by trade and I've watched the development of this site. Changes have been fairly arbitrary, moving UI items around, often to non logical places. Changing navigation buttons from uploading new content to the current window, to launching new windows (and vice versa). The development plan seems to be "hey we can do it - so let's give it a go". Has the site improved? Not in this user's experience.
I understand the wish for change - the site is looking a bit dated - but it works just fine. Dicking around with something you don't really understand will not improve the site.

Assuming you have a Windows PC:-
1 - Control Panel
2 - Programs
3 - Programs and Features > Uninstall a program
4 - Scroll down the list of programs till u find SH Chat
5 - Click on it and follow the instructions.
To avoid it loading again use the ENTER THE CHATROOM icon on the righthand sideof the main site Chatroom page.

1) The room host IS identfied at the top of the room - highlighted in GREEN (except the main chatrooms created by the site)
2) It's on the 'wish list' for V2 of the new chat.

1 server, crap chat have no idea where to find peeps tbh it sucks!!!.... dont think i'll be renewing my membership nxt month tbh if this is what its gonna be like...chat is too fast n cant be followed.

your not wrong whiplash :sad: we used to spend a lot of time on this site, but constant crashing, falling numbers in chat, overzealous moderators and of those left on SH chat an increasing number of fakes/phonies and pricks(not cocks) :twisted: we aint renewing and if anyone has some other sites they can recommmend please inbox me, cheers
i used my account and my laptop and couldnt get into the new chat

he then did the things sugested to resolve the problem on my laptop (cookies etc) and i still couldnt get into new chat
we then used his account on my laptop and got into new chat fine

so surely the problem has to be with my account and not my setings on my laptop ?

New room is technically good and good cams but it is impossible to see (check out) watchers and cams at the same time and impossible to go to profiles direct from watchers
and you have to click on approve every time you turn on cam
and ive just spent 5 mins try to get a cam up only to work out they were a watcher

I find the EXTRAS coloured logo anoynig and taking up a lot of space suely a red X or ext would do

By all means change the packaging, introduce enhancements like increasing text size, but keep the product the same!!
Oh, and make sure it works!!! There is no excuse for it not to. However, we are going to have to get used to the 'teething' problems because, as usual, testing hasn't been thorough enough!!

Thanks for this. Unfortunately downloading the icon was the only way I could get into the new chat (if only for 5 mins before getting disconnected) as the enter chatroom icon continually gives me an error message and it don't work.
Like previous posters, I too am a member of FREE swingers sites with chatrooms which can hold up to 200 users in each room at a time with video, audio or both and I have never had any problems using these sites. Yet, the site I pay for gives me grief at the moment!

I've just tried to open the Desktop chat for the first time in about 3 days. It wanted downloaded a new version but this failed to install with the message:

Please uninstall the old (beta) version first from Add/Remove programs. It should then install ok

1) IRC style quick whispering ie. member1: this is a whisper etc....
2) usernames in the main chat being clicable for either whisper or profile
3) system that can cope with transient network issues, ie at the moment a few lost pings can result in the chat greying out and saying you are disconnected
4) as its XMMP would it be possable to use a standard client to logon
5) when you close a webcam, instead of it leaving blank box make it disapear and the remaining cams move left
6) possability to have participant entry and leaving notices which are switchable
7) ability to flag up if your freinds are in the chatrooms so you can whisper to them and have a freinds list
8) view cam of a whisper user, also make available a cam to only a whisperer etc.
9) under watchers/cammers allow quick whisper and view profile
10) ability to disable emoticon rewriting
11) show room host
12) if room host, ability to assign someone else in addition or replace ment of yourself as a host of that room
13) a quick 'report' button fron any room or whisper that will quick notify a chatop that there is an issue they need to attend to

Firstly, I can understand the upgrade, and within a few weeks we'll all love it. None of us like change, but I think this in general is for the better.
Just gone on today, like the rooms, however I personally get a lot of whispers, and find that I might be in a, or several conversations, bouncing between them, however I can no longer see the main chat, and therefore who's taking the piss out of me next!

click settings (spanner) at top right and you can change it to the old method
one good thing with whispers in a seperate tab is that the user can move to another room but you can still whisper to them
I think that possably a inbetween setting is nice where whispers all show in a seperate tab along with in the chat room you are currently looking at is a nice thing.
Also possably splitting the chat window in two with whispers on top and chatroom on bottom etc..
hi - i use safari on a mac and dont want to download anything on my machine.
the chat window is useless - i cant change rooms and all the layers are on top of each other - please do not get rid of old chat until this issue gets sorted - if you'd like screen shots let me know and i'll send them.

use the desktop app, its flash based and will only install Adobe Air which is the same as Flash but for the desktop, or install Firefox which renders things better than Safari most of the time

I was watching someone, they moved room but i continued to see their cam, i then move to another room, usualy at this point any cams you are viewing disapear but the cam i was viewing did not and it stays that way as i use the site and not close their cam.
This possably could lead to issues where people move into private rooms and people who were watching their cam are still doing so.
I was using the Adobe Air app.
