I have on occasions put up in the chat room forum that I would open a forum chat room.
I don’t believe many people see it there as when I have spoken to people in chat rooms they say they only look at the café forum and never go into the chat forum only if there is a problem with chat.
I did ask once if I could advertise a forum chat room in the café as more people would see it who would be more likely to use it. I was told it belonged in the chat room forum as it was a chat room issue.
I can see both points to this debate.
Could we not advertise it in the café for it then to get moved the next day?
Just an idea!

how about... in your sig, in large letters... when you have a room open... make the announcement there?
have one on standby in 'word' or something... ready to cut and paste whenever the need takes.
or a 'clickable' link to the running threadin chat that makes the announce,ents that a room is open?
am I making sence yet?

I have opened it, but it is nice for people to know it is there, as most people that use the forums only seem to look in the cafe more than the chat forum, I just thought putting a thread up here would be better.
Then your friend who's a lurker could see for instance and she might be encouraged to just come there and observe the banter and get more of a feel what forumites are like.
As I think the chat room forum can be a much more relaxed atmosphere than in here.

Ive checked the link, and it seems to work in the signature area... so:
quote the above posting of mine, and copy/paste the link into your signature area when the room is open.
also, you might ask anyone else who is dropping into chat to do the same as a favour... to let all and sundry know.

I could do that, but also would it not be easier to put a thread up in the cafe to say a forum Chat room is open and for a mod to just delete it at the end of the night
As I see the cafe and a forum chat to have a connection!
This isnt a moan by the way just put as an idea!

I don't have a problem with that and can see how it might encourage others into chat.
It could just be moved and possibly fetched back from the chatroom lounge when needed or deleted :dunno:

In the days of long ago - the forum chat room was opened on such a regular basis it didn't really need to be advertised.
Be nice to see it up and running again like that - doesn't matter who opens it - that's what makes the room work. Was the only chat room I went in at one time and I miss it.
One of the positive things it encouraged was the members who either posted occasionally in the forum or lurked came in to say hi.
