i have the same prob.... main sytem killed less than 1 min, tried all updates but weird laptop runs fine.. exact same software, pulling my hair out..... rather be pulling somthing else....lol :twisted:

Mike have you installed something that is draining the resources ? Run a spyware check etc just in case if it's a new problem. As far as I am aware the chatroom still needs the same spec etc to run
richie, if you have no problem running the chat on your laptop then maybe the desktop is too old/has not enough RAM? I can run 5 rooms on the laptop (when it works lol) but only 1 on my desktop as it is considerably older...

it's also good to defrag once a week. To do this go to My Computer, then right click on the Hard Drive, click properties and then tools. Click on defragment.

I did some critical updates the other day through microsofts help and support centre !! I downloaded some files and the same happend to me !! Comp went realy Slow on here and a few other applications i opend !! I later found it was the download from microsofs critical update what done it. Its called net framework 1.1 and that was the problem ! They released a patch to go with it which i had to download and then all was fine

But if you did any updates recently ide suggest going back and checking if theres another one there ? Might be the patch you need

the same problem forever, and no none of the sugestions work, its the platform itself..wen (IF) they get the new room they say it will cure this problem, i have no problems on ANY other site, i have no virus or spyware, i have even tried it on a completly new build and its still the same......

So how do the thousands (yes! - Thousands!! - 995 showing logged on now for example) of people who use it with no problems at all every day get on then?
Some of us run multiple screens at the same time too (with no problems I might add) ..................... yup. It MUST be the site, nothing wrong with your PC / Laptop / mac at all
Before you start, my machine is nowt special, just a 'bare bones' box form PC World, with a 19" LCD monitor (From Tesco!) and generic wireless mouse / keyboard, and I run the server list, forum, and at least 4 chat screens at the same time, as well as browsing the web too.
Do you run any USB peripherals? or run your internet via USB? If so, that could be the fault - USB takes LOADS of system resources. For network, make sure you run ethernet not USB - it sucks!

I have to say that I experience regular problems with degradation on this site in the chatroom. I know there are 1000s of other people using the site, but every time I'm in a chatroom people comment on the slowness, disappearing emoticons, causing (what appears to be) heavy loads on the hard disk for no apparent reason.
This has been raised so many times, isn't it possible that there IS an issue at the server end? I don't get the problems all the time, but I get them often enough for it to be a pain in the proverbial.
Yes I have the latest version of flash loaded, yes I've tried IE and Firefox, yes I have AV, spyware and firewall software and have tried running it with one or all combinations disabled, no I don't have a network, yes I've tried closing down everything apart from SH chat, yes I have more than enough memory and yes my PC is defragged regularly.
I use a number of other chatrooms (not related to swinging) that are written with a variety of software, some of it flash. They offer similar (and in some cases more) facilities than on here. A simple side-by-side test of this site and comparable others show this to be lacking in its responsiveness.
I find it a little hard to believe that so many people complaining about the slowness of the chatroom on here are all simply misguided and have their PCs setup wrong.
I'm assuming Op accounts are configured like Extra accounts to allow for multiple room access. Might this also affect whether or not you are seeing the problems standard users experience?

well i have probs going in the busy chat rooms as i cant type it goies so slow but i think that down to performance of my ageing pc but i have been recently getting software notices saying its going slow so i really dont know :confused:

i am using on a athlon 2000 with 756 mb ram, which ok is not a great machine but does allow me to play some good 3d games.....
soon as i boot chatroom up it does start hogging resources.....
jsut to check i ran it at work and in a internet cafe and same issues....
i understand that flash is good but mayby admin could look at trying to stop the memory leaks in the code
