Ridiculously unfit for purpose!!!

This chat version is utterly broken, I swear my 10 year old cockapoo could write something better.

I was on cam today, took me 20 minutes (no kidding, no exaggeration, 20 minutes!!!) to turn my camera off, because the 3 dots menu wouldn't appear. The tab freezes and takes minutes to come back, when it does, the menu appears, then disappears because I've clicked it more than once, expecting, you know, a menu to appear as it's 2024, not 1975.

It's ridiculous, I couldn't turn my camera off to be sure it was off, for 20 F*CKING minutes!!!!!!!

What operating system/ browser were you using at the time? Is your camera integrated to a laptop or is it standalone

I've had a camera that didn't disconnect (not quite same situ but in a zoom call) it turned out to be software issue with another application running it at the same time, I had to open that application to close it down in the first application.

Stick in a support ticket giving your browser version/ OS and your camera or if it's part of your portable give them that?

I wasn't an issue with the camera not disconnecting. It was an issue, that is always happening with the new chat implementation, with the entire site just stalling and becoming completely unresponsive when I switch away to another tab and then back again. It takes literally minutes for the page to become responsive again.

I have mentioned this multiple times, both during the beta and since going live, I either get no response or "it works for everyone else". I'll create a ticket, but I won't be holding my breath.

I get your frustration but do stick in the support ticket.

What operating system, browser and device are you using? For my own part I did initially find a couple of issues with the new chat, hanging/ delayed but as time has gone on they've either corrected the issue or it's gone away by my updating my browser and whilst it's of no help to you but personally I've found the new chat to be quicker with seemingly less bugs.

Lets hope support get you over the line in a positive way with your camera problem.

One thing that might be worth checking for your situation are your browser "eco" settings, some browsers effectively put tabs you aren't looking at in a dormant state, which can then be problematic when you come back to them. Similarly later versions of windows do this with windows that it considers inactive, which you can see using task manager and looking for the green leaf symbol.

As OneThePull says, there are lots of software/hardware issues as well which can take some tracking down. For an example: I have occasional issues with my Razer webcam and although its usually fine, sometimes discord can effectively hog it and not release it for use after I've finished with it in discord, so the chatroom (or any other software!) can't use it, only unplugging the cam from the USB port resolves it.
