Suggestions:
1 - Have a full time 'forum chat' room on server 1.
2 - See if any of the members is willing to help with the current site issues. Yeah - I know it sounds like madness... but have you considered that some of the members may have very useful experience. For example, I work for an online business that has 5000+ servers for it's frontline site. I don't work in that part of the business, and personally only look after 30 odd backend servers -- but my point remains somebody in the membership might have useful knowledge and be willing to take a look/help (for free). You never know it might be worth asking...
Personally never had problems opening a room up when host has decided they wish to leave. If we all having a good time then a little commitments to others we know is part of the pleasure and fun. In the event of it being late then everyone will just adjourn back to a main room.
Normally the host should say they leaving and give rest of room a chance to organize something, that if they know how to host a room properly. Then Ops do not have to worry about the room and continue with the other things they have to do.

Yes Gnv must admit been in rooms where the host has little or no idea of what is actually happening in there. Or even actually care about the other roomies or site rules.
When I have/do host a room try to ensure keep an eye on the room and roomies rather than get too deeply involved in one conversation. Just my personal view point as host nothing more.
Nothing worse than the room's atmosphere being ruined by problems and if that happens can appreciate more what the Ops and Mods do. Thankfully never had to call upon an Op or mod when hosting a room.
Highlights the fact as host must be fair and unbiased in those situations irrespective of how well know the persons concerned are to you.
By setting out the room rules and remaining consistent in applying them in accordance with site rules with luck helps reduce potential problems happening, though not always.
Those who have been in rooms I've hosted know my pet phrase of.. 'I take no prisoners'..
Much preferring everyone has a good time and enjoys themselves without too much hassle.
Off my soap box now!!!!!
:smile2:
As yet have never encountered an Op who hasn't solved any major problem which has occurred in rooms I've been in. Even though I have sat silently fuming at the treatment they have got along with other roomies.
Harder after such disturbances is to stop roomies keep going on about what has happened and therefore prevent room settling back down again. Yet provided everyone agrees to let the matter rest then it sure can.
Have rarely had to resort to using the kick button preferring to allow the person a chance to settle down after any necessary warning.
As for rooms I have run all have been made welcome and certainly do not discriminate by sexual orientation or gender.
Many a time I have stayed up later than planned when hosting a room so everybody can have fun and enjoy the evening. Yes being a host has a certain amount of satisfaction but temper that with the odd abusive comment thrown our hey got a fairly thick skin and those sort of comments tend to bounce off.
Why let the odd one or two spoil it for the majority.
Ooops here I go again on that soap box!! Honest stepped off it again now.
