techi wireless chat help

right dek is working away and the pit where he is staying has wireless so hes got on the net but cant get onto chat
can get in chat no problems while at home on wireless so is it blocked at the wireless end or am i missing something he has downloaded the latest flash player. he can access the site just not chat dunno

Depends on the network security used at the other location. Where I work, all of the expected (adult) sites are blocked automatically, but they have also blocked every chatroom known to mankind.
As an example I could get onto facebook, but couldnt access the poker application as it contained a chat client and the network blocked a port.

Ah right ty ian will tell him he will have to make do without chat for 5 weeks lol

The pit where he is staying they put the wireless on because there is nothing else to do there they can not walk about alone or unarmed so it is purely (supposedly) for personal use while they are not at work

It's almost certainly because the network administrator has blocked or doesn't consider that the ports need to be open. Which means the traffic from the chatroom will not be able to get through to him! sad
