You cant stop whispering in the chat rooms. If someone is whispering you without permission please let a chat op know (they are the people with a star in chat or names in purple at the bottom of the main page).
Its polite to ask others if you can whisper (talk to them in private). The chat rooms can be a tad overwhelming the first time in. Just join in with convo, say hello... the majority of people will say hiya back. any more questions just ask...:smile:
