It had gates! but while Joe public and others keep footing the bill for the damage thats done the authorities are never going to do anything about these tossers.

There are gates, now blocked by 1 tonne concrete blocks.
There are no plans to clean the place up, because of the health hazard a contractor will have to be employed. In about 1 - 2 years time the place will be no more anyway because the new dual-carriageway A421 is being constructed right through it....to be precise, the access road to the site is part of the embankment of the new road and so is about half of the site, at the far end. A bridge is going to be built for residential and farm access and the car park was going to be relocated on the other side of the present A421. The residents made a fuss and so the car park is going to be at the side of the new road, at the bottom of the hill, Bedford side.
Oh, and the present road was going to be restricted access before the invasion, restricted to residents only....how the present load of crap will alter that, the Lord only knows.
And the site is OWNED by the county council, managed on its behalf by an outside company, who subcontract maintenance and repair to Marston Vale Forest Trust. Any enquiries about the illegal occupation were passed to the Gipsy Affairs Officer....who whined about "where else are the poor darlings to live...dss...benefits agency...blah, blah"....after much irritation they eventually went to court about it...but they didn't want to, there were no complaints from the residents you see. Now you're back to square one, with the farmer firing shotguns into the air by the side of your car and his thick son trying to run you over with his quad bike. Then there is the guy with the little white dog, waving his stick at you and the other guy throwing branches at the gays....
