As a serving cop myself, I have to say that I have no problems with doggers and dogging. Neither do most of my colleagues, at least the ones on my shift. Our problem is when the place is a mess, with people leaving condoms, and litter everywhere. We often forget that these places are generally for families during the day. I patrol near a Lancashire reservoir close to Bolton, and would love to chat more with people about this.
Any cops I've ever stumbled upon whilst dogging (and it's been a while) have, on the whole, always been absolutely fine with me. I tend to work on they basis that they have a job to do and if I'm in a dark picnic area come wood at night they have the right to ask a few simple, questions (wouldn't anyone?)... a few simple, honest answers on my part and they've always seemed happy and left me and others be biggrin I agree about the mess - I cannot comment for couples but I know some gay guys leave used condoms everywhere... sad
However, I was questioned once way back by a single guy in a cop car in Gloucestershire... he was a complete arsehole and I knew something wasn't right as he was patrolling on his own.... he actually ended up trying it on with me  He was ugly so I refrained wink
Actually, it was after chatting with cops at a very well known spot in Herts some time back, after a tranvestite had been assaulted by a group of girls in a car (gyspies I think), that I ended up finding this place. I was sent an email by the TV thanking me for my support and for acting as a witness and in it, he also pointed me towards this thread:

So the link brought me here :P

Hi Satan42,. welcome to the forums and nice to hear your perspective on all this. We dont actually visit the place you mentioned, mainly because it is just too busy with too many people around, but I do have to agree with everything you have said. There is no excuse for anyone leaving anything behind, it is bad manners, dangerous and its unthoughfull behaviour like that which ends up ruining these places for everyone.
We have spoken to a few police when out, but none have ever been 'off hand' with us, but then again, we have never been off hand with them. At the end of the day, you are doing a job, and job that I really dont envy, and a bit of respect costs nothing!! We have been asked to move once, and we moved on, but most of the time, the police have been more interested in checking that I (the female) was ok, and making sure I was there at my own free will. However, we dont frequent the busy places, so we have probably not had as much interaction as some doggers.
You mention in your post about wanting to chat, well, not sure what you were thinking but why not drop us a message! wink

Ok, in the interests of fairness, get in touch with any of us
As GingerJo mentioned in her post, we also take a 'dogging bag' with us when we go out and never leave any sign that we have been there. Everything is taken home and binned appropriately!
Sod off Bloke, I live nearer than you and can find the place without Satnav :giggle:
Just another thought on this, the majority of people on here may say that they take their 'stuff' home with them, and I have no doubt that a lot of them do, but that doesnt get the message accross to the thousands of doggers who have never even been on the internet.
Some doggers bring on trouble for themselves, they go out of their way to be akward when the police arrive, and start to use that almighty attitude. They dont realise that the police are doing a job, and anyone who works with the public will agree, an attitude of 'I couldnt give a dam' is not the way to start up any conversation!
Right, I will shut up now lol

100% agree with you NWC
I have also seen the following used as 'excuses':
a) they get a map out and pretend to be lost (they found their way in though didn't they wink )
b) they pretend to be on the phone (they just had to pull of the road, down the dirt path and into the far end of the car park to answer it :rascalsmile
c) they burn rubber and disappear (the worst thing you can do in my opinion as if you didn't look suspicious before, you do now - almost a guarantee the police will follow in my experience rolleyes )
Perhaps Satan can entertain us with other 'excuses' he has come across?
One of my football chums is in the force.
He told me of a few excuses used by people - mainly younger guys
"I was looking for my dog - he run away today."
When they check his details he was 30 miles away from home, which could be feasible, but would you look for a lost dog at 2:30am ? :-)
Others include...
"I am meeting a blind date"
Suppose they were I guess - in the middle of a forest is a bit odd though.
"I am lost - actually do you know how I get to ??? street"
"Yes" - replies the copper - "and so does your sat nav on your dasboard there."
Finally - "I am bird watching" ... aren't we all
:-)
Actually being stopped by the police can be a bit frustrating when there's a cute WPC in the car - I'm so tempted to say something I shouldn't. Bet I'm not alone.
