Beds police:
BUSINESSES and residents in Mid Beds are being urged to join Bedfordshire Police in the fight against car crime.
They are being encouraged to sign up to a new Car Park Watch scheme as part of Operation Soviet, a vehicle crime initiative
A special hotline, SovietMaster, has been set up so people can pass on information via email, text or telephone message.
Car Park Watch members can also expect to receive timely warnings and advice on crime relevant to their area via an existing system known as RingMaster through email, text or telephone.
Officer-in-charge, Det Con Richard *******, said the force is looking for support in areas where intelligence shows vehicle crime is a problem, such as car parks at pubs and clubs or shops and residential streets.
DC ******* added: "I want to reassure residents and businesses they can text, telephone or email me with live information, no matter how trivial or insignificant it may seem to them."
He said this could include details of suspicious cars circling an area, or someone that simply "doesn't look right."
DC ****** stressed it would help officers draw up what they call an "intelligence jigsaw of real-time crime" and continued: "It is my role to proactively gather information such as car registration numbers and descriptions of suspects, which will allow me to research these to discover more quickly who is responsible for car crime.
"SovietMaster and RingMaster are both good examples of how by working in partnership with the community, we can drive crime down and make the county a safer place."

Given that in cases where the public HAS phoned them after witnessing carcrime, they took TWO DAYS to get to the carpark, I think this is another waste-of-time operation !
the car park watch scheme that they mention, is that the same one you are a member of Jomu or is this different to the type of car park watching that you do
rotflmao :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
:giggle:
I also live in Mid-Beds. Glad to hear that they have their priorities straight and that they are obviously throwing all these 'resources' at yet another pointless PR stunt! rolleyes

Better not get lost around town then, or be a saleman !

Hint: Thieves are responsible for car crime. They drive into a village in the early hours of the morning, pick a car and then screwdriver the door, break the lock off the steering and drive away. Everyone's asleep. When the owners ring you (after they've got through the switchboard that doesn't know what policemen are) you arrive several hours later.

Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh: when is that ?
Why can't they just be honest and call it JomuWatch lol
They don't need to call it "jomuwatch" beautiful, by now they must have a complete list of where and when I'm going to be, at any time !
If they haven't, I'll give them my 'phone number and let them know. It'll save diesel.
Anyway, the last "pull" was a few nights ago.
The layby was devoid of trucks (musta been a group text telling them where the action was that night).
I was watching a roasting when I noticed a van pull in at the top end....so, wandered out and sat in the motor....up pulls "the finest"....
Usual question: "what you doin' 'ere then"
Standard reply: " I only come here for the nightlife"
Question 2: "there's only men here"
Reply 2: (halted by the plaintive female wail "yes, yes, YES, OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" )
Exit: Finest.
I guess that sooner or later they're going to get a bit more serious, but really...my house, along with most of the others in my road, has bloody great PIR lights outside. The reason being that the HORDE are back in town, so the offspring of same will be looking for easy pickings soon....(but the laybys are safe for Joe Public)
It's a question of priorities I'm told !
