In today's Bournemouth Daily Echo there is an atricle about a couple who were caught having sex in the dunes on Studland beach during the daytime.
It would appear that they had erected a wind break and were enjoying themselves when a police patrol " just happened" to walk past and caught them in the act.
They were charged with outraging public decency and each fined £200 plus costs.
The Swanage police have now said they will be stepping up patrols to stamp out the practice of dogging on the beaches rolleyes

LOL bloody coppers. A yacht charterer mate of mine in poole, told me that he took a group of police out one time and all they wanted was for him to take them closer to the beach. They eventually landed in a small craft and started taking pictures, can you believe it!!!!

DORSET police have pledged to get tough on couples indulging in outdoor sex at beauty spots.
Their warning came after a couple caught performing a sex act on Studland beach were hauled before magistrates and fined.
The internet is being blamed for an increase in the number of people travelling to Studland and other local beauty spots and indulging in public sexual activity - known as "dogging".
Sergeant Jon Bleasdale, of Swanage police, said they were determined to tackle the problem. "We have had an increase in complaints and of the number of people involved in sexual activity.
"People think that if they are in the sand dunes then they can do what they like, but they can't.
"There are plenty of people, including children, who visit the area. We have no problem with naturists but we will carry on our undercover operations all year round until we make the beach safe for all users."
Anthony Cleaveland and Marcia Smallman, of Trefoil Way in Christchurch, pleaded guilty to outraging public decency at Bournemouth Magistrates' Court.
Prosecutor Pat Marlow said they set up a windbreak on Studland beach on June 27 and began to perform sex acts on each other.
They and two voyeuristic naturists watching them were caught by patrolling police officers, the court heard.
She said: "Studland is a popular holiday destination. Visitor numbers are as high as 25,000 a day in summer."
John Chediak, defending, told the court: "Both parties were consenting. They didn't think they could be seen and were very discreet."
Magistrates fined them £200 each and ordered them to pay £43 costs.

The last bit is the real pisser - "They didn't think they could be seen and were very discreet." - but they still got done for it! No complaints were made by the public, so the coppers must have made the complaint themselves. mad Dogging down here has taken a real turn for the worse of late, and now all the bloody carparks are being locked at night again.........

We have no real sympathy for people who get caught shagging on public beaches or dunes during the day. They obviously could be seen and were seen. They weren't very discreet with 2 meercat doggers stood watching attracting attention. It was the police who found them, but it could equally well have been children who stumbled across them. If they just wanted outdoor sex they should have avoided the problem area of Studland. If they wanted public sex they can't complain if they were caught.
We were naturist for many years and the clampdown at Studland on sex in the dunes is nothing new and there has been police activity there since at least the early 90's. There have been many complaints to the police by naturists about activities in the dunes. The present restriction of the naturist section of beach to exclude the dunes comes directly from an attempt to stop sex in the dunes. The same has happened at beaches we know in Lancs, Wales and Cornwall.
Sex and areas frequented by families should not go together. An isolated layby at night is one thing, a public beach during the day is another.

No arguement about that bit, however one wonders why children would be taken to a naturist beach...................
We live in Poole, me for 20 years and TJ all her life - neither of us has ever been to studland, mostly due to its reputation............
I'm on about the knock on effect to after dark dogging in remote car parks and lay by's - our 'local' used to get a visit from the boys in blue once in a blue moon, now at least 3 times a night. And it has attracted unwanted attention from boy racers - who now park up in gangs, tooting their horns, flashing headlights, revving engines and shouting abuse every time a car drives in the car park - be they doggers or dog walkers!

Why shouldn't they? There are plenty of naturist families, although I agree that on beaches backed by dunes it would be unwise to let children enter the dunes on their own, but I'm sure that children do have access to the dunes.

I agree that the dogging scene appears to be getting unwanted attention from police and non-doggers, but this thread was originally about a couple getting caught showing in daylight in a very public place and my response was to that.
And the misconception in press and public minds that sex on the beach equals dogging..........

We have gone as a family to Studland Naturist beach, its a much nicer beach than Swanage too, cleaner, less crowded, no fag butts in sand. We stayed near the tea hut, and didnt venture to the quieter areas such as the dunes, and the kids had a brill day and made friends with other children there.
Its a shame that its reputation has put people off, because it really is a lovely beach, and as usual the few spolit it for the rest.

"Dogging is a predominantly British activity that involves outdoor exhibitionism in car-parks, wooded areas and the like."
This definition would suggest that having sex in a public place, including a beach, with the intention of being watched would be classified as dogging. If the couple involved didn't want to be seen then they weren't doggers, but if so they were really unlucky being spotted by 2 voyeurs and the police.
It's not clear if it was the dunes or the beach. On the beach it would be just plain stupid, but it was probably in the dunes where it would only be risky. One wonders what the voyeurs were doing not keeping a lookout, surely that comes with the territory!!
Personally I like taking my clothes off but I do not think that past 40 it affords much pleasure to others. I have the benefit of an old boat and have been known to anchor off the beach just because it's private, but if someone should come past I don't have to grab for the shorts. Lots of boats anchor off there. I row ashore for a swim because it's so much warmer in the shallows. I like the place for the relaxed attitude, but find the beach a bit suffocatingly "naturist", not that many weekends made it worth the effort this year.
they broke the law, got caught in the act , by the police. what is there to argue about? they knew the risks, they made the choice. if any people think that the police are going to " let people off" when caught red handed, then they are very mis-informed. i think the moral of this post is"BE CAREFUL-DON'T GET CAUGHT!". we can debate the legality of dogging/voyouerism until we are blue in the face, it's too late and will make no difference to the unlucky people in studland who ended up convicted and fined. it would be interesting to know if they have been put on the sex offenders register or not.? any one know?
as northwest cpl said its happening in duffryn as well, they have patrols of police through the summer who walk the dunes in shorts and t shirts and the local council have made it an offence to sunbathe in the dunes to try and stop any activity taking as yet has been charged with the OFFENCE of SUNBATHING in the dunes but it would be interesting to see if it was upheld by a court of law,if in fact it was taken to court.
Oh imagine the shame....
... getting convicted of..........
SUNBATHING! rotflmao
Yet again we hear of typically big brothertactics of repression by our british establishment bully boys.
Britain has to be one of the most sexually repressed countrys in the world.
No doubt they would close SH down if they could!
Don't give up people. Keep the SH end up i say.
Rob
ps. I wonder how many of those coppers / repressors are on here,(hippocrites).
rolleyes
While naturists have used studland for over 50 years, there is no official right for them to do so.
The land itself is national trust land, bequeathed to the trust in a will.
In recent years they have been resticting naturist activity more and more, and frequent inspections take place now, by both police and trust
As for "spoiling peoples fun"
Are not "ordinary" people allowed "fun", such as walking on a beach ?
