I'll be alone on Christmas day too. Mrs T is working and the kids will be with there grandparents.
I will be playing games and watching the Christmas Dr Who.

last year like yourself i found myself at a xmas loose end as mrs p had to visit some family due to an emergency,
i booked a cheap flight and like Lizaleanrob i spent most of it at 30m below the surface checking out what the marine life do on xmas day, oddly they seemed to be doing the same stuff they do on every other day wink
chill out watch some tv, take the dog for a walk and before you know it its new year lol

I actually choose to be on my own. I get invited to my sisters and stuff.......but I prefer to get in car and take the dog up over Cannock chase for a few hours. You would actually be surprised how many people are out and walking.....its just another day. At least in the evening there is something half decent on the Telly.

I got used to being on my own for Xmas when I parted from my ex hubby as my boys would spend Xmas eve and most of the holiday with their dad.
To be honest it never bothered me as I am comfortable with my own company, last Xmas morning I went out walking and intend to do something similar this year.

Never been alone for Christmas Day, but I don't think it would worry me at all. It's just another day, and the bonus is that nobody else would be able to hog the remote control!

I have to admit that i would be devastated if i was alone on Christmas day but luckily thats not likely due to our family being very good at getting together and having a great family time.
If i was going to be alone then i would offer to do some charity work such as providing meals for homeless people or similar.

I was told this morning that I am now working on 23rd, 24th and 25th December. So it now looks like I won't be at home at all this festive season sad

There is the option not to be alone lol
There are many charitable organisations that would welcome another volunteer on Xmas day.
The Salvation Army for distributing soup and sandwiches
The RSPCA for dog walkers
Hospitals for visiting the elderly
For a few ideas of who to contact or even just hit the streets with a flask of soup and some home made butties, find those homeless people yourselves.

I won't be alone; But I will be 150 miles from my Wife, kids and family.

Yes I got that because you said you would be away working, I was addressing my comment to those who will be alone not by choice or work commitments, but by the fact that they have nobody to spend Christmas with.

plenty of charities in london need help handing out soup and blankets to the homeless.
ive already done a santa run on my motorbike for kids at barnardos handing out presents.
and what did the kids say when i turned up?
'your a bit short for santa?' didnt matter to me, seeing their faces light up and all wanting to sit on the bike was good enough for i did have trouble explaining why no reindeer to the children.

You cannot prepare for all the questions kids might ask, they know no bounds lol
But here are some I use when doing the charity santa gig.

How do you get to every house in the world in one night
I cannot possibly do that, but I can freeze time, so when you go to sleep on Christmas Eve I freeze the time and deliver all the presents then I start time again so everyone wakes up to find them.
Why haven't you got the reindeer here,
They are resting, they have a really busy night coming up very soon and I cannot possibly wear them out before then or people won't get their presents.
Are you the real Santa
Well what do you think, I am here and I have brought you a present haven't I
Is your beard real, what will happen if I tug it
I will fart.

The really good aspect of helping with soup/sandwich kitchens or dog walking or hospital visiting and the like is not only what a nice thing it is for the people you do it for but how you get to see people worse off than yourself and best of all the "feel good" factor you get from it.

That is so true, I spent xmas at a shelter in Glasgow when i was 16 with my mum, and since i moved here I support a project called Project Antifreeze which provides sleeping bags to the street sleepers down here, the majority of them are incredibly grateful and it breaks my heart thinking of them in this weather sad None of us are financially flush in these times but it brings a sense of perspective to how far up we are on the ladder compared to some of these folks

What a great idea, we bought 4 sleeping bags about 3 years ago and have never even opened them, I am going to ring up the local charities that look after the homeless on the streets and donate them, thanks for the idea smile simple with hindsight but it never occurred to me lol

Philosophy according to Dr. Seuss....
“All alone! Whether you like it or not, alone is something you'll be quite a lot!”
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...”
“Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before! What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!”
